Chance me for my non-Ivies??

<p>I'm applying to two Ivy League schools, but honestly I know that they are long-shots, and I'd like to hear opinions about my other schools.
I'm applying to UVA, William and Mary, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, and Wake Forest. I am from a public high school in MD. More of my stats are below:</p>

<p>Unweighted GPA: 4.0 through junior year, but it will be a 3.97 at the end of my first semester this year
Weighted GPA: 4.6
SAT I: 2260 (790 CR, 700 M, 770 W)
SAT IIs: 750 Bio M, 650 MII
AP Scores: Spanish Lang 3; English Lit 5; US Gov't 5; Biology 5
I have taken the most rigorous program available at my school, including Biology, Chemsitry, Physics, AP Bio, and AP Chem. I have taken math through Calculus, and both AP English classes. I started taking AP classes in my sophomore year, which was unusual at the time.</p>

<p>EC's:
-Captain of Academic Team, county champions, competed at the Regional Science Bowl
-Lead roles for the past two years in Drama Club (have participated all 4 years)
-Debate Club
-Student Council treasuruer for two years
-Varsity track athlete in my sophomore year
-Held a job both my freshman and sophomore summer
-Participated in a Biotechnology Institute sponsored by the National Science Foundation in the summer of my junior year (this included taking 2 college courses, both of which I got an A in).
-I volunteer for 3 hours a week in the Emergency Room of a hospital</p>

<p>Interviews:
-CMU: It was fantastic, my alumnus and I really hit it off and talked about everything. He got to know me extremely well and seemed to like me. He said I was well-suited for CMU.
-UVA: n/a
-WM: It was my first college interview ever, I was extremely nervous and it was a little awkward, but the one thing I really emphasized was my love for science, which I think is important
-JHU: It went fairly well. We talked for over an hour and he seemed to like me.
-WFU: n/a</p>

<p>Essays:
Common App: I wrote about a very personal topic but with an interesting twist. The main theme was overcoming an obstacle, but I promise, it wasn't cliche. I was really proud of it, I would rate it 8 or 9/10
CMU: 8/10
UVA: 8/10
WM: 7/10
JHU: 7.5/10 (slightly cliche topics??, but I think they were well-written and showed who I was).
WFU: 6/10 (I put a lot of thought into them, but I didn't feel like I could get my point across because of word restrictions. I don't know.)</p>

<p>Recs:</p>

<h1>1: I didn't actually read it, but I'm positive it was fantastic. My AP Bio teacher wrote it, and he actually offered and wanted to write it. He loves me and I love him, haha. We get along really well.</h1>

<h1>2: Slightly perfunctory, but she still said kind things, and highlighted aspects of my personality not addressed elsewhere on my application.</h1>

<p>I can't think of anything else to say! Please respond. I am a nervous, nervous senior who would be thrilled with an acceptance to any of the above, but especially WM, JHU, or CMU. What do you think?</p>

<p>Please?? :)</p>

<p>Back to the top.</p>

<p>I don’t have much experience with these schools (except the VA ones, but I’m instate), so take what I say with a grain of salt, but…</p>

<p>It seems like you have a very solid shot at all of these schools, to be honest. I really, really don’t think you should worry. W&M is basically a shoe-in and so would UVa if you were in state, OOS you still shouldn’t worry too much. Basically, you have very strong stats, remember to try to emphasize your love of science so that you have a focus point. </p>

<p>Goodluck!</p>

<p>Thank you so much, that is really great to hear! If WM is a shoe-in like you say, that is good news for two reasons.

  1. I love it there
  2. I might actually get some merit aid and be able to afford it.
    :)</p>

<p>Anyone else have opinions??</p>

<p>Back to page one!</p>

<p>with your SAT and GPA you have a solid chance at the ivies as well, I wouldn’t call them long shots! And I believe you have a very good chance at all of these schools as well. UVA can be really unpredictable out of state, but still, solid chance. good luck!</p>

<p>Thanks for your input! I really appreciate it! I don’t know about the Ivies though…especially since I screwed up my GPA first semester of senior year. I got B’s in Chem and Calc, and although my overall average for Chem is still an A, I’m getting an 85 in Calc. :(</p>

<p>I was accepted to UVa! Does anyone have any feedback for the others?? :)</p>
