Chance me for my state schools...

Applying to UMaine Orono and University of Southern Maine for a Political Science major. I know they aren't schools this board is used to seeing, but I was a bad HS student. Anyway, here we go:

GPA: 2.5 UW, not sure what it is weighted because my school doesn't send out weighted grades (it's probably around 2.7). I had a ~D+ average for the first two years of school, B average junior year, an A average so far this year.

SAT: 1870

ECs: Job for 3 years (15-20 hours / week during school, 20-40 hours / week during summer)
1 Year of jv football and 1 year of varsity football (quit to work more)
Boy scouts from K-9th grade

Recommendations: Recommendation from my AP Euro/AP US teacher, recommendation from my AP Computer Science teacher

First generation college student in my family.

I hate to bump, but bump.

Continue working hard, and you'll be golden with the A average this year.

Do you know their acceptance rate, SAT median, average GPA? That might help us decide whether you're a match.

For University of Maine at Orono:

Critical Reading Middle 50%: 480 - 580 (I have a 620)
Math Middle 50%: 480 - 600 (I have a 570)
Writing Middle 50%: 470 - 570 (I have a 680)

Average High School GPA: 3.12

For University of Southern Maine:

Critical Reading Middle 50%: 440 - 550
Math Middle 50%: 430 - 540
Writing Middle 50%: 440 - 540

Average High School GPA: 2.8

I think USM is a match (safety maybe). Orono may be a bit of a reach.

Oh... well I'm sure you're in at both.

You just need to make sure you have a strong first semester so your junior and senior years balance out the freshman and sophomore years' grades.

Thank you very much for being the only one to respond to my thread, Sail.

I think you have decent chances at both. State schools love AP classes and test scores above their averages.
