Chance me for my top choice school (POLY)

chance me for nyu poly ea 2 and nyu lsp ed2
My naviance graph shows I am a match but my stats are a bit 'outlier-ish'. I will be applying in early feb.

My current gpa is a
3.05 UW

3.25 W

SAT score is a 2010

Regent's scores:

100's on all of them except spanish (89), s.s. (80-95's), english (90).

Subject Tests:
Bio- 800
Chem- 800

Math2- 800

course-load:

challenging. taken 3 year of honors and 2 years of aps (6 honor classes; 6 APs)

My ECs are decent (sports/club wise) and the only thing that makes me stick out is my work to a donation-based hospital in a 3rd world country. I have worked devotedly by interacting with patients; with doctors and have learned a lot about actual poverty. have devoted 450 hours of my time to this. Successfully raised 45K for this hospital.

Essays/LoRs/Supplementals:
extremely strong and focuses on my grade drop in junior year.
LoRs will be incredibly strong (haven't gotten them yet since I am applying this February, I plan on asking my ap physics and s.s. teacher (college course teacher) for LoRs. Current LoRs for LSP and my safeties are well written.
Supplementals are unique, strong and a slight bit of humor

1 extra letter from the head of the hospital I have been working with which is an extremely well-written letter.

MAJOR: Something related to Medicine; I wish to go into biomedical engineering but nyu poly doesn't offer it as a undergrad major; so i plan on 'concentrating' in it by taking courses at nyu and nyu poly.

Hooks: does being the first person in my entire extended family going to an american university count?; my parents went to med school abroad

other:
Asian
No need for FA
living in ny
not born in the us (but came here at an early age)

Nyu-poly is more of a computer science based school but I have checked it out campus-wise and what not and I love it. I have taken computer science in school all the way to ap compsci but i couldn't take ap comp sci this year cause it could not fit in my schedule.

this is how I compare to other students who were accepted for poly (naviance graph):
http://i.imgur.com/7K9mS.png

for nyu in general:

http://i.imgur.com/fhp4y.png

Also please chance me for NYU-LSP ED2. I would rather go to LSP than poly because i can actually major in biomed eng.

bumping thread.

It depends on what year the people who did worse than you (on Naviance) graduated. Because admissions stats for Fall 2009 for Poly are significantly different from what 2011 looked like…

I think you might be okay… maybe a hook would help, e.g. being a girl or doing something awesome in high school. The hospital thing is very nice of you! Maybe emphasize that in your app… in fact, maybe it should be your focal point :P

Thank you @static75.

Well I thoroughly researched the school and the average mean sat and gpa are 1800 and 80 with this graph:
[Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly) in Brooklyn, New York - Cappex](<a href=“College Search Database: Find Your College Match | Cappex”>College Search Database: Find Your College Match | Cappex)

I am just a bit sad by the ranking it received by U.S. Rankings (#138). I believe it deserves better.

Bumping thread.

I’m sorry, but that graph is kind of what I was talking about. An 1800 this year probably means rejection. But like I said, in either case, you’re looking quite safe. Btw, congrats on your SAT 2’s. Idk if I didn’t see them before or what, but they’re killer… I only got a 790 on Math 2 :P
