Gender: Male

Honestly I feel mediocre and nothing really stands out to me but I want to get a feel for where I could have any chance of getting in and get any suggestions and feedback. I will also be visiting the Northeast for the first time this summer to visit and learn more about these colleges and see which one I think fits me best, in order to narrow this list down.

Chance me for my reach schools (since I havent decided on match and safeties):

Yale
Columbia
Dartmouth
Georgetown
Rice
UT Honors

Other Factors: Income of about 100-140K, double citizen US/Mexico (just for kicks)

Although you are a URM, most of those schools are high reaches for you. The SAT would need to be higher. Also, I don’t think it looks especially good on your app taking Spanish as an SAT2, unless you’re not a native speaker. You do have decent SATs…also, with your previous involvement in Rice, I say your chances improve there a bit.

Yale, Columbia, Darmouth - high reaches
Georgetown - reach
Rice - low reach
UT honors - not too sure on how honors programs work.

Alright that is about I figured unfortunately.

How much do you think getting a 2100-2150 score would help?

And in regard to the SAT2 Spanish test I’ve read some forums on here that are divided in opinion but with a greater feel that it should be something I should take advantage of and that I shouldn’t feel bad for taking it because I learned two languages as a child. Besides I am taking another 2 tests as well.

Like I said I haven’t been to any of these schools but the ones that most attract me on this list are Columbia, Dartmouth, and Georgetown

Columbia - Because I think the Core sounds like a good program and location in NY
Dartmouth - For its liberal arts feel exactly how my high school is
Georgetown - Maybe I’ll pursue a field in Foreign Relation and its among the best of the Catholic universities

Any comments on these schools like anything else I should know?
Other schools similar to these that I should consider and are easier selectivity wise?
And what else could I do as of now to improve my chances at these three schools?

all those colleges look like reaches, not too sure about UT honors program
with an SAT score of 2250+ and ACT of 33+ some of those reaches can become “fit” schools

raise your SATs and you’ll be good.

Uhh if youre in top ten percent, UT Honors shouldnt be too hard to get into. Wait, honors and not plan 2 right?

Oh woops ya I meant Plan 2

So mainly its my SAT holding me back I’m seeing?
I will definitely study for my second try at it, I don’t want it to hold me back
Unfortunately the next SAT test date is in the fall, will it be too late to apply ED at one of these schools?

Uhh youre in houston like me
so the next date is october i think which you can apply for ED with (I think). Do you go to PVA or carngie vanguard?

And lol just fyi, my friend got accepted to harvard, and waitlisted for plan 2…

Haha Carnegie Vanguard

about your friend, that is crazy and sucks
but UT just has a weird system overall in admission

Yeah im pretty sure he got accepted of the waitlist though lol

Oh and im at lamar :)
