Chance me for New York University (CAS)

I'm a rising senior who plans to apply to NYU College of Arts and Science Early Decision I this fall. From my school, around 20 apply to NYU each year, 5-9 are accepted, and 2-4 enroll. I've made similar threads before.

White male from Connecticut, no need for financial aid

Overall UW GPA: 3.58 with a big upward trend (3.22 freshman year, 3.64 sophomore year, 3.89 junior year. )

My school doesn't release class rank

SAT Score (first try... retaking in the fall again): 2010... 680 CR, 640 math, 690 writing

APs: Government (3 on the AP test... yes/no to sending that score?), Spanish Language, English Language, European History, Environmental Science

Junior Grades (electives not included):
AP Government/Politics A-
Honors Spanish A
Honors English A
Expository Writing/Grammar A-
Chemistry 2 A-
Algebra 2 A
Geometry A
(yes, I took both Alg2 and Geometry as a junior because my lackluster work ethic in middle school put me in a math sequence that was far too easy... probably the cause for my awful math SAT score)

Senior Schedule:
AP Spanish Language
AP English Language
AP Environmental Science
AP European History
Trigonometry
Latin American Studies

Extra curriculars:
Editor-in-Chief of school newspaper
Member of Spanish Honor Society (must have A in spanish classes, volunteer experience, pass an oral examination and write an application letter)
Gay Straight Alliance Member
Key Club Member
Computer Graphics Club Member -9th grade

102 views but no replies from anybody other than myself?!

your in…you bypass the average sat and have ec’s to make up for your gpa…plus you had a good junior year…chance back please…http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1208313-chances-early-action-gmu-hofstra-american-etc.html

thanks… bump.

I also want to apply to NYU, CAS wth lower SAT than yours.

You would seem to fall solidly within the “average” range for accepted students - not a shoo-in, but I’d say NYU/CAS is a “match” school for you. I don’t know whether you’ll need financial assistance, but, if you do, you should probably find some less expensive schools - NYU is notoriously costly (and stingy with aid).

Yep, as illustrated in the OP, I don’t need any financial aid :)

Very high chances your profile fits that of an NYU student.

thanks… bump!

bump… anybody? please? :)

bump… please? D: I’m freaking out

NYU is a match for you. Good luck, you are a good fit for CAS.

GPA is a tad low but you make up for it with EC’s AND upward trend - good job! I bet “in”. NYU is holistic so I bet they see you as a rising student.

thanks for the encouragement, guys! I’ve really been doubting myself as the ED deadline has come closer and closer. Although I’m still unsure about whether or not I’ll be admitted, positive feedback here has definitely helped.

With that said… bump? :)
