I think you are a very strong candidate and have a high chance of acceptance.

wow, you’ll probably get accepted

Thanks! Those replies make me happy, haha. Any other opinions?

Keep up the good work! That’s encouragement and advice.

I just got accepted for early decision which similar stats. I got a 32 on act and I took full ib with HLs bio, chem and geography and my SLs were math, geo and spanish. Your EC are way better then mine were. Good luck. You’ll get in :)

Any other thoughts on my chances? I’ll be applying next year and just noticed that my unweighted GPA is currently 3.92, not 3.88. Amherst is my dream. Is my hook as a first-generation college student appealing to Amherst? I know they consistently list it as one of their “most important” factors in admission, but I’m wondering if it’s exaggerated at all.

Another question: If admitted, I would highly consider playing guitar at Amherst in their jazz band. Does anyone know the process in sharing this interest with Amherst?

Don’t forget to get a third SATII for georgetown!

Hijack, are you aware of the Amherst-Williams Rivalry?

Yes! I seem to think it’s healthy and creates a fun atmosphere around sports events

Set up a face-to-face meeting with Bruce Diehl to talk about your interest. Give him a CD and an artistic resume. If he’s interested in you ask him (after you apply) to send an email of support to your regional admissions officer, who you should also get to know.

Thanks! Didn’t know exactly who to contact until now. Much appreciated.

Any other opinions? Would love to hear from some students or people who know a lot about Amherst.

Parent of very happy Amherst sophomore…
