Hey guys, I am a junior at a magnet school and would really love to figure out my chances for acceptance at Northeastern. as a Biology or Health Science major. Once I visited I fell in love with this school, it is my first choice and I am applying early action for the fall class of 2016.
My stats are as follows, however I will be retaking most of these subject tests, as well as SAT and ACTs, just want a quick overlook thanks!
SAT composite 1610
Math: 560
Critical: 500
Writing: 550
SAT Subject Math Level 1: 650
SAT Subject Spanish: 550
SAT Subject Biology: 630
ACT composite 27
Math: 24
Reading: 30
Writing: 27
English: 23
GPA: 3.3 (unweighted)
My school does not rank and it does not provide weighted GPAs. All my classes are either honors or APs. I am a part of National Honor Society (3 yrs), HOSA; a medical orientated club (4 yrs, secretary), Volleybal (2yrs varsity, 2 yrs varsity, captain), Model UN (4 yrs) and Red Cross (2 yrs).
What do you guys think are my chances?
Your extra-curriculars look great, however your standardized test scores look to be on the low end. Most who get accepted to NU have scores that are around the 2000 median range. You should really strive to raise the math portion of both your SAT and ACT if you are applying to the health or bio major.
I think with raised standardized tests you hold a decent chance at admission.
Completely agree with @rainbowunicorn if you want to get in, apply with great SAT scores or ACT scores, and also, find something that helps you stand out from the rest. When I read this, I see good grades and ok scores with some good extracurriculars, but find something that you are interested in. Like I design websites and apps because I am passionate about them. Find something interesting and stick with it. If your school doesn’t have a club, like mine didn’t so I started 2, start one yourself.
Good luck with your application!!! You’ll do great
Remember find a passion that is unique, or stay true to what you are interested in and excel
Good luck
