Thank you!

I would be very surprised if you didn’t get in, especially if you plan on applying EA. Your volunteer experience and leadership positions are great and your SAT score is well above the median score for the admitted class of 2012. You look great overall. Your biggest weakness is probably your UW GPA, although it still falls within the median scores. I really don’t think you have anything to worry about as long as you make sure your essay and recommendations are as good as your credentials.

Thank you so much!(:
I currently am offered an ASB commission head position for next year. Do you think I should take up the offer or take an academic class instead?

I REALLY think that you should take the position, especially since you’ve been active in the ASB since freshman year and you held leadership last year. It would show both great leadership and commitment. Anyone can take academic classes; that position is a great opportunity and will help you to stand out more.

Also, since your SAT score is significantly higher than your ACT, I strongly recommend that you only submit your SAT. It’s not a huge deal, but it may make a difference.

Out of curiosity, which school at NEU do you plan on applying to and what major are you thinking about?

I’m also applying to NEU this year and it’s my top choice. I hope we both get in!

Thanks for all the advice. I’ll certainly take the position.

I plan on applying for school of health professions, thinking about majoring in neurosciences. I was thinking about a dual major with computer sciences, but I’m not too sure about that.

Good luck to you!

I’m a neuroscience major, but if I were starting over I would do a dual major with computer science. If you’re looking at going into research at all, getting at least some computer science/programming experience is nearly essential.
