Looking to be chanced at:
Northwestern University
Duke University

University of Minnesota
Harvard University
Rice University
University of Michigan Ann Arbor

Thank you!

You look pretty competitive. I’d apply to Harvard EA (it’s nonbonding) to get a bit of a boost, but id say you’d be competitive. If you are interested in rice or northwestern I’d make sure to apply ED (to one if them) as those schools fill a lot of the class up in the ED period. But if you really want Harvard, don’t apply ED to those, just EA to Harvard.

Thank You! I will Consider EA to Harvard or Northwestern, would love to hear more people’s opinions.

you can’t go wrong applying EA to Harvard. Its tough for everyone, but EA should make it a bit easier. If you get in, great, you can go to Harvard or apply to other schools (maybe merit/fa money, closer to home, etc), if you get deferred you still have a shot later on and can apply to NW, Rice, UM, and Duke. I think Harvard’s EA is non-single choice, so you can apply to UM as well if you go that route.

Alright, I’ll need to do some reading on early-decision, thanks! Any others who would be willing to chance me?

ED helps a bit, but its binding ( you have to attend, great if you really really wanna attend a school, but if you want to compare offers/fa, you should apply Regular Decision). Early Action is non-binding, and Harvard offers that (along with Georgetown, Princeton, MIT, and other great schools) so if you get admitted you are still free to chose where you want to go, you just hear of your acceptance around Dec instead of April.

Okay, thanks, that makes more sense now, I think I will apply early action to Harvard and look into its availability at some of the Big Ten schools I’m interested in. More chances please

Bump… please chance

please anybody?

I think harvard’s ea is restrictive. So you can’t apply early to any other schools except public state institutions in your state (and possibly private).

Looking at your resume, if any particular one of those activities stands out to you, make it stand out to the admissions office. Additionally what band instrument do you play? If you’re decent, you could send in a recording and check which instruments are in high demand through band rosters and whatnot. Unless you play bassoon. Then you’re in…kidding…mostly ;).

Play trombone, but have zero interest in continuing to play even if I had the ability which I probably don’t anyway.
As far as extra-curriculars basketball is my strongest and I will try to make that clear, I also plan to apply to some D-III schools to play basketball at if I decide to not go the large university route.

Northwestern University: I think you have a great shot of getting in, especially if you apply ED.
Duke University: Good shot.
Harvard University: Always difficult to predict.
Rice University: This should be a match for you.
