Chance me for Northwestern?

Hi! I’m a high school senior in Massachusetts right now. My high school is really competitive and a great school, but we don’t get information on our class rankings, I have pretty good test scores and have taken 6 AP classes already, and am hoping to hear about my chances on getting in. I know no one can say for sure and nothing’s ever guaranteed, but it would be nice to hear opinions other than that of my counselor.

SAT: 1410
SAT english: 740
SAT math: 670
ACT: 33
GPA: 94.7 (100pt scale)
AP Human Geography, AP World History, AP French, and AP Biology exam scores: 4
AP English Language and AP US History exam scores: 5

I’m also enrolled in AP Chemistry, AP English Literature, AP Calculus AB, and AP Government and Politics this year. I also participate in theater, ceramics, and roller derby, so my resume does have some other things other than academics.

I’ve already submitted my application, but would really like to get in. When I was younger, I used to attend their leapfrog summer programs and loved the school!

So because you have the grades and test scores (the ACT), you’ve basically got your foot stepped in the door. Your essays are going to be the main factor if you get in or not, rec letters and extracurriculars matter too though. From one Northwestern applicant to another, best of luck!

I have nearly the same statistics minus the AP classes since my school offers very few (but I took all that I can). I guess from here it depends on your activities and your essay, which you’ve probably heard multiple times by now. Did you apply Early Decision?

I applied Regular - I wasn’t planning on applying, actually, but I remembered how much I had liked the school and looked into it and started to get really interested in it again. I know applying Regular lowers your chances, though.
