@hihicollege The biggest issue is the ACT score. Two years ago, for the freshman class entering in Fall 2016, the overall acceptance rate at ND was 18.7%. However, per stats from Don Bishop, the VP of enrollment at ND, the acceptance rate for students with an ACT score of 28 was 8%.
Bear in mind that ND has approximately 880-900 student-athletes enrolled at any given time, so roughly 220-225 athletes are admitted in each entering freshman class. I’d wager that a fairly sizable number of the students admitted with an ACT score of 28 were recruited athletes. At my high school, we had one recruited athlete admitted to ND with a 27 ACT, and the rest of the accepted students had an ACT between 33-36. That student was top 1% in athletic talent, and that was his ‘hook’ for ND.
Also, at many schools, being Mexican would help as an URM minority, but hispanic Catholic applicants at ND are fairly common given the school’s Catholic identity.
All that said, I wish you much luck, but the lower ACT hurts at a school that seems to value higher-end test scores.
