I’m no expert, but I think it might be a big reach for you. They have around a 3% acceptance rate, so with having a 3.5 UW gpa being not top 10% in class as an undecided without stellar EC/essays it is probably out of reach. Best of luck though; I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere good.

No one can chance you without standardized test scores.

@anxiousenior1 He is doing the IB and NYUAD’s testing policy is very diverse. Furthermore, Standardised testing does not solely refer to the SAT/ACT.

@Wilsonhsu1115 You have a high shot. Trust me :slight_smile:

@Magnanimous12 Yeah, but what about my IB score?
@anxiousenior1 Check what @JohnIsTheMan said! :slight_smile:
@JohnIsTheMan Thank you man, I think you have a high shot too! :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree with @JohnIsTheMan Your GPA is on the lower side…but in context of your school your gpa is very good. Great ECs!

Hi. I’m also sending an application there, and just like you, I am an IB student.
My profile is also in the good side (so I was told) so I can pretty much discern what is a good or mediocre profile, and I can say with great certainty that your profile is kickass!
I’m pretty sure you’ll get in CW.
Although there will be a lot of applicants with 4.0s, NYU AD doesn’t evaluate solely based on your GPA. Your extracurricular and IB grades will be able to reimburse your GPA.
However, one thing I don’t understand is how did you get 3.51 in your GPA when you got 41/42 for IB??!

Alright, hey guys I have to apologise for something…
@kyumin98 @Metraux @Magnanimous12 @anxiousenior1 @JohnIsTheMan

This is a little social experiment I was doing to proove that some people on College Confidential destroys people for no reason. In reality, I am ED1 and I was just notified of my acceptance into the NYUAD Class of 2020 last month. What I want to say is just that whatever people may say about your profile, so long as you’re balanced and you have decent scores, youll have a chance in making it to the CW. I hope you guys all the best for your applications, and seriously, just apply and dont let anyone talk you out of it.

NYUAD is a place for driven and courages people, if you have the courage to apply you deserve to be commended, and regardless of getting in or not, you have stepped out of your comfort zone - an ability required to truely become a student NYUAD.

Good luck!

Btw, there is a group on Facebook for Class of 2020 Applicants, heres the link:

@kyumin98 I got a 3.51 because my school treat all exam as opportunities to give us a taste of the “worst case scenario” or “the real deal”, so everyone got pretty bad grades. My rank is just a wild guess, I have no idea because the scores are just there to indicate space for improvements, not to reflect where we actually stand.

@Wilsonhsu1115 Congratulations on getting in! I apologize for being overly critical. When you said top 20% I assumed you meant that you were ranked in the second decile, in which a 3.5 would make it pretty hard to get in unhooked, considering that the school probably takes in 90%+ out of top 10% in class. You didn’t say that was an estimate. Also, I didn’t quite take the time through all of your accomplishments; they are very impressive!

@Wilsonhsu1115 You knew by Jan 1 that you were admitted?

@dowzerw I knew by Dec 15

@Wilsonhsu1115 did you really get accepted with a 3.5? So you mean to tell me your grades weren’t all As and you still got accepted? That gives me so much hope because no one thinks I can get in with a 3.6. Do you mind telling me how you strengthened your application? sorry for so many questions lol
