Will Chance back.

It’s definitely a reach - Your SAT is not strong for this school and you don’t really have a ‘hook’ in your EC’s/have any leadership. Your essays/recs/interview would have to all be VERY strong. But hey - you never know. Best of luck!

I believe that the average SAT score for NYU is about 1890 or 30 points higher than mine, however is there any information on how it is spread out throughout the schools of NYU as I guess Stern would want a higher score, while say Tisch would concentrate more on the art portfolio

bump bump bump bump

the average SAT score for CAS is 2100 with 1400/1600 so get that up! Leadership positions are also a must!

Look up NYU common data sheet 2012 section C!

and I am applying for the same school actually haha! Here are my stats! (copy and pasted from my chance post)

SAT CR:640 W:650 M:720 (worst part of my application >.>)
SATII: Bio M: 800 Chem:720

at end of senior year I will have taken 6 APs (Ap bio, Ap chem, Ap world, Ap english and composition, Ap government, Ap AB calc) very few (?)

I attend brooklyn technical highschool which is a 4 hour and 30 minute round trip commute for me which I hope explains my 3.738 GPA (weighted) my school does not do unweighted.

As I adjusted to my new long commute my grades have been going up ever since and NEVER dropped however I am also taking more difficult classes every year. 89 freshman year to 96.96 now.

Clubs/leadership
(only going to list important ones to spare your reading)
9-12 cycling marshall/leadership for TD bank bike tour NYC century tour de bronx and etc
9-12 religious ceremony instructor and participant at Buddhist temple
10-12 Executive board/leader for Unicef club
10-12 volunteered for beth israel medical center (two different departments) and redcross
10-11 yellow belt karate and cross country and track and field few awards, but nothing significant

amazing recommendations and guidance counsouler will address my long commute.
best essays I can ever write

EDII

ASIAN MALE

will not need financial aid

Do you think me being Kazakh, and coming from one of those bad public NYC schools will help my application?

Is it harder/easier to get into an NYU depending on the school?

Stern is the hardest Tisch you need an audition or portfolio
well I am not sure, but I know being Kazakh will not get you in on its own.

CAS has the most acceptance beacuse it has the most seats (around 33.3%) however the acceptance rate is only 20% when compared to NYU"s overall 33% acceptance rate

So out of all 3 if you have great grades in history and mathematics would Gallatin, Stern, or CAS be the better route?

i agree with redvelvet, i think its a reach, but definitely not impossible.
it would help if you raised your SATs some and had leadership positions.
haha i got a 720 on the us history too!! :)

chance back?
