chance me for nyu, bu, harvard, american!

hey all! here's the thing - my stats are there for some of these schools, but i have close to no volunteer work and not many activities, so i'm wondering how all that will factor in. any ideas would be greatly appreciated! i will probably apply ed at nyu, but i may apply regular decision to all these schools to compare financial aid. thanks!

about me:
white female

stats:
gpa: 3.81, unweighted
unknown weighted
class rank: unknown (my school doesn't calculate class rank)
SAT subject tests: 750 Bio, 660 Math II (baddd, i know)
SAT: 2040; 650 M, 680 CR, 710 W
*taking again next month because of national merit - but clearly, i'm not so good at the SAT.
ACT: composite 36, essay 9
AP scores: 5 in Biology, 5 in Psychology

senior schedule:
I'm taking 4 APs:
AP US History, AP English Literature, AP Physics-Mechanics, AP Calculus AB

major:
biology (genetics)/pre-law

extra-curriculars:
leader of animal rights club
participant in theatre all 4 years - 13 hrs/week
dance marathon sophomore year
work 10 hrs/week since junior year

honors/awards:
national merit semifinalist

my problem is that besides my ACT score, i don't have anything really impressive. my recommendations should be fairly good - not sure how the essay's going to turn out.

chance me for:
NYU
BU
Harvard (doubt it)
American
any other big city schools like NYU

thank you very much!

You can score a 36 on the act even with a 9 essay? Did you get a 34 in English and 36 in all other subjects or were you able to score a 35/36 on English even with a 9 essay? Thanks.

Good shot at all but Harvard. Little shot there. The big issue–can you afford the other schools as none of them meet need.

A 36 composite doesn’t even take into account the essay, user.

Harvard is obviously the outlier here. Your GPA may be too low. You stand an excellent shot at your other choices though.

But grr…It gets oh-so-slightly irksome whenever I see someone with a ~2000-2100 SAT manage a 35-36 ACT.

user - my combined english/writing score is a 33, but that hardly matters since most schools just check the composite & the essay, i believe.

thanks to everyone so far!

I want to stress that you have a 0% at harvard.

but other schools you have a shot

Really good chance at Bu and American college, No chance at harvard, and very good chance at NYU. Good Luck. U chicago is a big city school that you should try.
