Is there any chance of getting into NYU College of Arts and Sciences? I know nobody can ever predict ones chances of getting into schools. But from my credentials, do you think I even have a chance?

Race/Ethnicity: African American (Nigerian to be specific)-- Dual Citizen
Extracurriculars: Sports, Music, Model UN, Community Service Corps., Volunteered at the top Children's Hospital in the nation (300 applied, only 60 got in total)... doing it again, PAML, other clubs as well.
GPA: 3.7 UW/W (our school only provides this GPA I guess because I go to a prepartory high school with very high prestige so it's more difficult to achieve a grade such as that) (this has also been comprised of an upward trend, by the way)
SAT: 1900
SAT II: Sending 2. Not sure what the score is yet.
Essays: I think they are pretty good.

Any chance? And do you think I should send those SAT II?

I don’t think a 1990 isn THAT bad for NYU, people have definitely gotten in with lower and your GPA is good. Assuming you have good subject test scores, have taken rigorous courses, and have good essays and recs, I’ll say its a low reach, possibly a high match.

Send in those SAT II’s only if they’re good. Ask your guidance counselor for advice. And by the way, the URM will help. So yeah… go for it. Best of luck.

@menacing I’m in 12th grade (a girl btw). I think the acceptance rate is even higher, though. I know NYU’s acceptance rate is 35% so I’m assuming they pull that number from CAS.

Your SAT score is a little borderline, so it would be great if you can still retake and bring it up! Otherwise, I think you have a pretty good chance. URM will probably help. As long as you took a lot of academically challenging classes, then you probably have a really decent chance.

Being Nigerian always helps. I don’t know about your rigor of schedule, but you should try to raise the SAT score. Assuming you’ve had a rigorous schedule, I think your in high match area now. I think that if you can break 2000 on you SAT, you’re a match.
