Chance me for NYU please!

Unweighted GPA: 3.9
Weighted GPA: 4.37 (out of 4.6)
Courseload: as challenging as my school offers
Senior year classes:

Clubs: Speech and Debate (since 10th, Original Oratory/Domestic Extempt competitor, went to state this year, Vice Pres), Environmental Club (since 9th, President), Selective Summer Reading Committee (we choose the summer reading book for the student body), National Honor Society, School Ambassador

I have served on crew and as Assistant Stage Manager/Stage Manager for several school productions

Girl Scouts: 12 years, earned Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards (for my gold award, I made a specialized curriculum for a local middle school that introduces Shakespeare in a fun and interesting way)

Community Service: 900+ hours at local science museum, nominated for volunteer of the year freshman year, serve on selective Volunteer committee since freshman year , 75 hours at local Shakespeare theater

Summer: 8 years at leadership camp + 1 year in the camp’s specialty leadership program, spent a month studying Shakespeare at the University of Oxford, creative writing course at Brown

For the record, I want to apply to CAS to study English and Journalism. All answers are appreciated!

Is your SAT a 2300, as you’ve written, or 2200, which would be the sum of your individual scores? Or am I missing something?

@notjoe Whoops! Mistyped- I got an 800 on Math. The 700 should be an 800.

With a 2300 and a 3.9 NYU Cas becomes a safety…

I agree NYU is a safety if anything else. In fact, I’d say go for more selective schools in that area (unless, of course, NYU is your dream school)

Chance me back???
Title: UChicago / UCLA / JHU / UW-Madison / Rochester (Will Chance Back If Left Link!!!)

I think NYU is a pretty solid match but nothing’s ever etched in stone, great application and I’d consider applying to some more selective schools!

I was recently accepted to NYU CAS for the fall of 2015 and have been very interested in this college admissions process… I’d definitely say that your GPA and standardized test scores make NYU a match/safety school for you. However, I hesitate in saying safety because if you look at CC’s NYU class of 2019 decisions thread, you will see a VAST number of “qualified” students with over 2250 SAT scores that were not admitted… a surprising number actually. The clubs you are involved with are very good but they mean nothing unless you have leadership positions in them as well. Best of luck to you! Feel free to ask me any questions that you may have!

NYU keeps getting more and more applicants each year, and this means they have to reject more and more qualified applicants. NYU is definitely a match for you, but don’t deem it a safety.

Match.
