<p>oops sorry I kinda got confused with the “weighted” indicated. If you have a 3.8+ / 4.0 UNWEIGHTED then that would be nice for Stern (not sure how that translates to weighted scale).</p>

<p>It really depends if you are applying ED or RD. I’d say for ED, you stand a shot (considering you get a 34 ACT). For RD, i highly doubt it, especially with all the ivy/wharton-ED rejects who apply to Stern with several Leadership positions and similar, if not, higher grades/test scores.</p>
<p>As of right now, I’d call it a reach. Assuming you’ve taken 0-2 AP’s so far and you’re only taking 3 next year, I wouldn’t be that excited about your 4.0, no offense. I don’t think you should predict a 32-34 ACT given your SAT score, but if you do pull that off, I’d say you’re a low-reach for ED and mid for RD. You need some more significant ECs and as shuffleace said, you need to exhibit leadership in some capacity.</p>
<p>Don’t forget that the OP isn’t only interested in Stern, and by saying business, it does not limit him/her to Stern. What exactly do you want to major in in business?</p>
<p>They will only consider your unweighted GPA so I’m guessing it’s around 3.8? That is on par, but you should get your SAT I up to around 2000. Something that may help is to take 3 SAT II tests. Since the admission requirements are SAT I + 2 SAT II tests or 3 SAT II tests or ACT with writing, it will give you more options in what test scores to send. If you decide to send the SAT I with 2 SAT IIs then you would have 3 SAT IIs to choose 2. If you happen to do well on all 3 SAT IIs then you could opt for that and not send your SAT I at all.</p>
<p>If you do want to apply to Stern make sure you do very well on the Math II SAT II.</p>
<p>Overall, your GPA is on track, and make sure you raise your test scores. Your ECs are lacking slightly but if you could get your test scores up I would call it a slight match. I know it is getting a little too close, but since most high schools are not out yet, if you could find an internship related to any one of your interests that would be really beneficial. </p>
<p>Make sure you do well on your essays, NYU’s admissions offices definitely look holistically. Also apply ED to increase your chances if you can get your test scores in by then.</p>

<p>yes, unweighted might be close to 3.8. i will deffinately do something over the summer, maybe internship or job. i will join more clubs, or at least stay in the one’s i have joined already. im doing community service right now, so i will probably have 300+ hours by the end of this year. and i did tutoring this year for 3 hours/week, so senior year i might do 5 hours/week. </p>

<p>I don’t think you should base your chances of admissions on unknown variables. Your essay and predicted testing scores shouldn’t be taken into account, or maybe that’s just the pessimist/realist in me talking. </p>
<p>How many APs does your school offer? If it doesn’t offer that many, or limits many of them to seniors, than your predicament is understandable if not negligible. As far as my AP situation went, I was only allowed to take 1 in sophomore year and then after that the field opened so I took 3 in junior year and 7 in senior year, but I don’t know if your school presents such opportunities.</p>
<p>I recommend getting a job, preferably in an academic environment like Kumon Tutoring Center, to show you’re staying busy. Retake your SAT if you don’t score at least a 31 on your ACT. Start a club next year, maybe some Political Action/Awareness thing. Just show your are a leader in your community.</p>

<p>my school offers about 6 APs.
-you can not take more than 3 APs in a year. i will still talk to my counselor and try to get into AP Calc.
-you are not allowed to take AP Gov’t AND AP Economics; its either or; i am taking AP Gov’t.
-you can only take 1 AP Science class per year; you can only take 1 AP Math class per year.</p>
<p>that is exactly what i will do: i was going to start a club concerning issues in the Middle East and awareness for it + fundraising for needy people.</p>
