Your SAT scores and GPA are pretty good except for math but that’s not what your majoring in so it shouldn’t hurt you that much. Nice Extracurriculars… I’d say low match, you’d have a high chance of getting in. Could you put your class rank too?

As a current student, I’m not really sure. It’s kind of a crap-shoot to be honest. And not just with NYU; there are kids at Harvard who don’t deserve to be there, and there are valedictorians at Rutgers. I can share my stats to give you a reference point. I got in last spring to CAS as a Biochem major (off of their waitlist) with

GPA: ~3.65 UW, ~4.1 weighted
SAT: 2260

5 AP classes, 3 different Varsity sports (I currently run for NYU’s track and cross country teams) NHS, Ap Scholar w/ Distinction, 3 Officer positions in student clubs, Boy Scouts and 325 hours of community service.

I also had a strong upward trend in GPA. My freshman year I had a 2.9 GPA. My Senior year, I had a 4.67 GPA, but the freshman year really killed my overall stats.

You seem at a pretty similar level to me; slightly higher GPA, but lower SAT, so I think you have a very fair chance at admission, especially since they put more weight on GPA.

Let me know if you have any questions about their admissions or the school in general as well. I’d love to help you figure it all out.

Do you have any general advice that would greatly improve my application?

Don’t apply to NYU for psychology unless its paid for on their dollar. It’s not worth $280,000 for a psych degree.

No offense.
