Chance me for NYU Stern ED and top business schools?

Hey guys, so I'm a junior and I'm looking to go into Finance. NYU Stern would be a dream, and people at my school have gotten in previously. I'm planning to apply ED to improve my chances. What do you think my chances are? I'm using this as motivation to get my grades up! Any other advice? Thanks so much!

Any advice at all on how to improve my chances would be really helpful! Thanks!

I think you have a high chance at NYU Stern

One B won’t hurt you greatly

Good Luck :)

thank you, i’ll be sure to chance you back :)

NYU Stern - High Reach

No business related ECs? DECA? Your ORM status will hurt you.

650 on a math section is a red flag for any top business schools. Get that your score up ASAP and you will be fine.

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is like DECA and I’m the treasurer of Latin Honors Society. But yeah, my business ECs are sorta weak. I applied to a finance internship for senior year, and the Bank of America internship and FTE Economics For Leaders program over the summer – which hopefully I get accepted into! And yes, I need to bust my ass for that math score :/

Thank you for your advice and honesty @Spirral!!

^^ Honestly, I think Spirral’s assessment is a bit harsh. I haven’t actually applied to college yet (so what I say may or may not be true), but the seniors at my high school NYU Stern were like you - they had good grades, solid extracurriculars (multiple clubs, varsity sports, etc.) but they didn’t like make the next Facebook or speak at a UN Conference (and I’m pretty sure most of them were RD, not ED).

I would say NYU Stern, Cornell (AEM or CAS?), and Georgetown MBS are all high match/low reach only because they’re so selective. Some of the other schools you mentioned (BC CSOM, Rutgers, Lehigh) are matches I’m pretty sure (especially Rutgers since you are in state). I’m not very familiar with North Carolina (Keenan-Flagler I assume?) but I heard it’s very competitive for OOS.

Duke and Columbia are reaches for almost anyone but you should definitely try.

(Also props for applying to EFL. Maybe we’ll meet each other haha)

I would be very surprised if you did not get into NYU stern.

BC (Caroll): accept, Lehigh: accept Rutgers: accept w/ money UNC: reject (difficult out of state), Columbia: waitlist, Georgetown (McDonough): accept, Duke: reject, Cornell: accept

Chance back?

Its a match

bring SAT up… most kids are like above 2200… average SAT on 1600 scale is a 1460… which is higher than every business school in the country… and i think about the same as wharton.

You need to get your scores up. Get 2250+ and even then its not really a sure bet.

If you do manage to get in you will to put in a lot of effort to survive here with how quantitative & conceptually difficult some classes get at Stern and how brilliant your peers will be.

Thank you everyone. Definitely gotta work on those SAT scores, and I appreciate your feedback!

bump :P

From what I’ve read, your SAT I is much too low. 2200 at least with 750-800 Math. Great GPA though. Try doing more Business related EC’s. Good luck
