Chance me for NYU Stern EDII Pls :)

Location: NYC

Pursuing a business major (either finance or information systems not so sure yet) would do both/combined if that's possible

GPA: 95 Weighted (on an upward curve since freshmen year and my senior year grades so far is 101 so that's why I'm doing EDII)
APs taken: AP US History (my school is highly competitive for AP classes so wasn't offered much)
APs this year: AP Literature, AB Calculus, AP Macroeconomics, AP Psych, AP Stats
College Courses: I took 5 additional college courses outside of APs from local colleges and got all As and Bs.
Class Rank: my school doesn't rank
School Rank: 13th in the nation

Superscore: 1990 (1410 CR+M)

Teacher Assistant for Guidance Counselor

Miscellaneous stuff:
Fluent in English and Chinese
Studied Russian for 3 years
Teacher Recs: 8/10 - both teachers I've had for 3 terms
Counselor Recs: 8/10 - counselor doesn't like me too much cuz I ask too many questions lol
Essays: 8/10 - not spectacular but they are well edited and thought out

Weaknesses: low SAT and SAT2 scores, Asian, generic ECs

also, on a sidenote, I am very scared of not getting into NYU because half my school’s ~100 applicants per year gets denied and their average GPA of accepted students for my school is 100+ weighted.

bump anyone chance me pls! I wanna know the truth.

truth is stern is a high reach. the sat scores admitted students score and the number of pple they admit are crazy. You probably have a shot at NYU, but really raise your SAT score by the time you apply for regular and applying ed does NOT improve your chances at all. know that most of the people who get accepted ed are recruits and legacies…plus you’re asian lol you need a 2150+ for stern

I am aware that my SAT score is low. tbh, it is too late to raise it now, I am not the best test taker. Do you think the fact that I go to a competitive school with good essays and recs and a lot of ECs would help? Also should EDII decrease the amount of recruits and legacies (since I assume most of them would just apply ED)? Thanks for the chancing

Ya I’ll agree with corinder that the SATs might have a bit of an impact, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that makes it a reach. When you say your essays were not spectacular, how come? Have you already submitted the App or will you be waiting until January 1? I really feel like the essays made the difference for me in my acceptance last year even though I didn’t have the strongest grades/leadership. I would say as of now you have about a 45% chance but if you can really work out an essay that will differentiate you from the pack that % can definitely increase.

well my essay right now has been checked and reviewed by 2 different English teachers and my college advisor and it seems like they all say its pretty good so yes, I hope the essay will work in my favor and make a difference. Thanks for the chancing Kylash!

bump. I’m very anxious! Any more chancing? I’ll chance back :)

also, my new SATII Math score is 730 and I got a Tutoring job. hopefully, that would boost my chances a bit.

Your SAT is low, which probably kills your chances. I know stern looks at SATs alot… oh btw im one of their track team’s recruits. which is what got me in
I am not the brightest student… so here goes
GPA: 3.7
SAT:2090 M:700 C:710 W:680
EC: FBLA 4 years (placed 3rd in economics and 2nd in a stock market game)
Started entrepreneur club (founder and president)
Student Council SAB (student advisory board)
Robotics Club (treasurer)
Varsity Track and Field (REASON WHY I GOT IN)
Honors Society
Recs: All great from Physics, econ and counselor
Essays: Strong

well does nyu only look at math and reading? we have the same score if that is the case.
how do you know you got in due to track and not academics or strong essays? do they tell you or are you just making a logical assumption?

He probably got recruited by some coach at NYU.

Exactly what J03421 said. I applied with the coach ranking me higher in the priority pools. I think thats how most if not all college admissions sort out their applications. But being recruited is never 100%, but it certainly helps.

oh I see. I’m not a high ranked athlete or anything so this information is new to me. Are most athletic recruits and legacies ED applicants?

Yes, if you are a recruit, the coach will normally tell you to apply via Early action or Early Decision. It helps a lot more knowing for sure that the athlete will commit. Not so sure about people with legacy, but I’m pretty sure NYU does not even take into account legacy.
