Chance me for NYU?

Applying to College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for mathematics.

UW gpa: about 3.7 (upward trend from freshman to junior)
W gpa: about 4.2
No class rank, but I estimate top 10-15%.

SAT I: 2110 (740 math, 730 writing, 640 reading)
SAT II: Math (800), Physics (730)
ACT Composite: 34 (36 math, 36 reading, 32 english (30 with writing), 33 science)

Extracurriculars: math team (4 yrs), future business leaders of america (2 yrs), First Class (3 yrs), band (4 yrs), orchestra (3 yrs), robotics (1 yr)

Volunteer: Chinese school teacher's assistant for two years

Work: Worked at Kumon for half a year; quit for math team/academics

Classes taken: freshman to junior were the highest level courses I could given the standard curriculum of math, english, foreign language, science, history. 9 honors, 4 AP (not including senior year)

Senior year classes: AP Calc BC, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Lit. I dropped social studies to take another math course and dropped language because of schedule conflicts; would it hurt me if I didn't explain this somewhere in my application?

AP scores: 4 on Euro, 5 on Lang, 4 on Physics B, 3 on APUSH (I don't plan on sending these in on the application, lol. The APUSH one just looks bad.)

Awards: lmfao. Um. FBLA (regionals and state) and National Merit Commended. That's really about it.

Umm. Is that it? I think so. I hope so. Thank you! :)

I’d say you have a very good chance.

I think you’ve got a great shot! However; I wouldn’t submit my SAT scores; I’d definitely go with your ACT scores. Your chances will be higher if you submit your ACT scores than if you submit your SAT scores.

Good luck

Thanks  If I submit both, would it hurt me? It’s mostly the SAT Math II that I want them to see…

Check this link for info on standardised test requirement at NYU

Thanks  Haha, looks like I should just stick to my ACT score then. Thanks :D

Just visited NYU today, loved it. But I am not sure about my chances of acceptance. Going into my senior year with a 3.7 GPA weighted, top 5-10%, some AP courses (Language and Comp, Chem, European History, American Government, US History, Lit). SAT 1670 (M 530, CR 600, W 540), studying to improve. EC… We the People Program Citizen and the Const. in 9th (nationals), volleyball all years, lacrosse 3 years, basketball management 2 years. some volunteer work this summer.

interested in CAS, individual study, steinhardt

bump…

you are fine. good luck.

Math majors are scarce from what I have seen since being in college. I think you’d be a great fit.

Thank you, hopefully you’re right!
