chance me for NYU?

i am very interested in applying (and going!!!) to NYU for fall 2013, and i was wondering if anyone could chance me. I'm just a junior so i have another year to improve...

Gender: female
Ethnicity: african-american

SAT: i haven't taken it yet, but im registered for the spring. I'll be taking Math, Spanish w/Listening, and U.S. History SAT II as well. I took the PSAT and only got a 181.

GPA: 3.5 not as high as a would have liked, but i went to an extremely challenging private (independent) school in New York City for Kindergarten through eleventh grade. I was just an average student at my old school. I just had decent grades. So I was happy with my GPA then, but now i am in a public school that isn't a challenge at all.

AP: no AP's yet. With my switch from private to public school i should have been placed in AP courses, but by the time my teachers and guidance counselor realized everything was extremely easy for me, it was too late to switch. Next year I will be taking at least four AP courses.

EXTRACURRICULARS:
sports: competitive figure skater from age three (along with necessary ballet classes),
played soccer/lacrosse for my school starting in seventh grade (will continue through twelfth), six years of track and tennis.

i have played the cello for eight years, it will be ten by the time i graduate. i am also decent at piano.

selected to be a part of the Junior Scholars Program at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (the largest/oldest collection of information for people of african descent in the world). Through this program i was able to print two books (photo anthology, im a photographer) that has now been recognized by the library of congress. I was a member for six years

WORK EXPERIENCE: none as of right now. this summer i will be working as a counselor at a sleep away camp that i attended every summer for five years. At this camp i was awarded "C.I.T. of the Year". As a Counselor In Training i was a camper who also worked as a counselor for part of the day. i worked with children under the age of seven and as a ceramics/art instructor.

COMMUNITY SERVICE/VOLUNTEER WORK: An instructor at the New York Botanical Garden's Children's Program (i had been a part of the program as a child, and decided to go back), I tutored at a girl's orphanage in Panama (part of an exchange program for cultural immersion), Special Olympics for Water Sports, Carnivals/Fairs for Children with Special Needs, Riverside Language Program (helped people who spoke spanish as a first language learn english)

i dont know if this matters that much, but i will be the second person in my family to graduate from college. Although i have an athletic background, I'm not looking for sports in college. I'm actually interested in majoring in the Arts. I haven't taken many arts classes in school because they never fit into my strictly academic schedule. However, i will be able to make a portfolio with work i've done outside of school.

i love traveling and studying different cultures. i love taking language classes. I am currently only taking spanish in school, but i have been independently studying sign language and italian by myself. I hope to continue with these languages in college and study abroad. i had planned on taking a year abroad in Spain for junior year, but when it came down to it i couldn't receive enough financial aid to go. My goal is to travel when I am older (i have been considering being a photojournalist), and i want to learn as many beautiful languages as I can before my brain explodes. :D

so do i have potential? will I even be considered? I know my grades aren't the best but i'm hoping that overall i seem decent...

I was also wondering if I should apply to CAS or Tisch. I would prefer Tisch for photography, but I know that there would also be more competition. I'm perfectly happy with CAS though. I wouldn't settle for it because it might be "easier"; I genuinely like it.

sorry for the long paragraphs, but thanks in advance! Advice would be greatly appreciated!

for those of you who are to busy to read my previous post. I shortened it as much as possible. However I wod really appreciate if I could get a response for the long one…
