I'm graduating this summer as a junior so I don't have a senior year course load. I plan on volunteering a lot this summer and using my year off to work and volunteer.

I want to major in Public Health/Anthropology or Public Health/Pre-Health at NYU. What are my current chances? Thanks!

Your statistics are very strong. Are there any opportunities for leadership at your school or even outside of school? That could play a big factor. Also out of curiosity, why are you graduating early? Have you fulfilled all the course requirements that NYU wants out of a high school student?

In addition, err on the side of caution. I know in the past NYU has not been the most generous in terms of financial aid and it’s tuition is very expensive. Do you have a backup plan in case that is not feasible?

If you get a SAT score just a little higher, I think you’ll definitely get in!

@shawnspencer Thanks for your response! I’m definitely going to take leadership opportunities while volunteering this summer. I’m graduating early because I wanted to take a year off to work, volunteer, and figure out my future career plans. I’ve fulfilled the course requirements for an advanced diploma at my school.

And yes, I’ve heard about the stingy aid :confused: I do have backup colleges lined up. I’m hoping to accomplish lots of stuff this summer in order to stand out and maybe get a chance at more financial aid. Nice avatar btw!

@wumanizer Thanks for answering! I’m pretty confident I can get at least a 2200. The 2050 was my first time taking the SAT and I didn’t study for it because I was preoccupied with AP exams.

@kellheesi‌ Why thank you! I’m glad you appreciate it. You seem to have a good plan lined up for yourself. I wish you the best of luck!

I think that you are probably a definite in at NYU. However, if you get in, you probably won’t be able to go because they give TERRIBLE financial aid. Did you know you actually have to pay to go on a tour?

You would likely get into NYU, but they will not likley fund you, so you are going to have problem paying.

@SugarBubbleTea, sorry but this is false.

@soze I went on a tour, and I had to pay.

@soze http://www.nyu.edu/content/dam/nyu/ugAdmissions/documents/grouptourrequest.doc

@sugarbubbletea That’s for a group tour (like when a HS brings an entire busload of kids).
Anybody can go on a guided tour with their family for free, just like every other school.

I took both my kids (four years apart and didn’t pay anything).
I’m not sure who you paid for your tour, sounds like you got scammed.

@soze I went both on a group tour and independently and I had to pay both times. I also spoke to my college counselor about it. Maybe it is only for NYC residents. Idk, but I know that NYU asked me to pay
