Chance me for NYU?

GPA: 4.0 UW (Not sure about weighted but I've received A's in 5 AP classes)
Class Rank: 3rd (Have to check out of how many)
SAT: 2050 740 CR / 610 M / 700 W (I retook the SAT this past Saturday, pretty confident I got at least a 700 in math this time!)
ACT: Taking it this Saturday
APs: Human Geo 5, World History 4, Chemistry, English Language and Composition, US History (latter 3 are pending but I'm confident they're within 4-5 range)
ECs: Art Club, Environmental Club, Volunteering Club, Asian Cultures Society, French Honor Society, Chinese Honor Society, Global Studies Honor Society, DECA
Volunteering: Local library, church, beach, various city events
Other: Part of school's global studies program, Scholastic Achievement Award, 2nd place in city-wide visual arts competition, art show participant, part of school's delegation to China this past spring, part-time job, NRF certified, accepted to competitive arts high school (but didn't attend because of commitment to school's global studies program)
Ethnicity: Asian (Viet)
EFC: 0
Out-of-state: Yes

I'm graduating this summer as a junior so I don't have a senior year course load. I plan on volunteering a lot this summer and using my year off to work and volunteer.

NYU is at the top of my list but I know it may be implausible due to its stingy financial aid. I'm also considering UVA, but I don't know what other colleges I should aim for. I plan to major in Public Health and I would prefer a college in a big urban city such as NYC. Suggestions would be much appreciated.. thanks!

I would say that NYU is a low reach. The difficult thing is that a lot of students have similar stats so it is really a chance of what the admissions office thinks. I would recommend spending time on essays and pick great teachers for recommendations. Essays will set you apart for sure. Good luck!

Northwestern, BU, BC, Georgetown, American U, George Washington, Emory, Tulane, Villanova are all good city schools (or just a few miles outside a city) where you would be a competitive applicant

Thanks guys!

Bump!

Hi! Your scores definitely fall into the average range for NYU but you need to make sure you make yourself standout somehow. I would also suggest pursuing some leadership roles. Hope this helps!

Thanks!
