Chance me for NYU?

I’m a sophomore in high school so I don’t know much about my scores, but I do have a general idea. I just want to know if I’m on the right track, since NYU is my dream school.

GPA: (weighted) 3.85 (unweighted) 3.65 (as of right now)
ACT: My school has a practice ACT and as a freshman I got a 26. I intend to bring that up.
SAT: Never taken the SAT before

Classes:
Freshman - 3 honors classes
Sophomore - 4 honors classes
Junior - 3 AP and 2 honors (already picked classes for next year)
Senior - 4 AP and 1 honors (most likely, almost certain)

Extracurriculars:
Newspaper club
Color Guard
Science Olympiad
Speech Team
Choir

Rank: 62/366

Other Info: I’m a female and of South Asian descent

Based on this info, does it seem likely or unlikely for me to get into NYU? I would also come under the category of out-of-state. (I live in Illinois.)

Hey there! It’s very hard to give you an accurate prediction because you don’t have much information to go off of…However, I can say a few things… Although a 26 on the ACT can almost certainly not get you into NYU, that is a very solid score as a freshman with excellent chances of bringing up. The first time I took the ACT as a junior, I got a 26 and was able to bring it up to a 30…. And I’m proud to say I was accepted to NYU this past spring! Your class rigor is where it should be but your class rank is a tad on the lower side… I’m guessing you’re looking at top 20% percentile roughly…? And most NYU admits are in the top 10%. Your GPA is also a tad on the lower side. See if you can bring up that unweighted GPA. If you have any questions about NYU or the process, I’d be more than happy to answer them for you! I wish you the best of luck!
