Hello, I am a rising senior this year and I am really interested in NYU. My intended major is neuroscience. Here are my stats:
Cumulative UW GPA: 3.54
Cumulative W GPA: 3.83
Class Rank (as of the end of my junior year) : 23/177, within the top 13%.

Courseload:
9th: 3 Honors
10th: 4 Honors
11th: 4 Honors 1 AP
12th: 2 Honors 2 AP 1 EEP

SAT’s were mediocre. I am retaking the SAT in the fall, as well as the ACT.

EC’s: French Horn player in my school’s wind ensemble (6 years)
All State Orchestra
RIMEA Solo and Ensemble Participant (6 years- all superior ratings)
Private lessons/ Horn Ensemble
Student Council Member
Class Council Member
National Honor Society Member
National Society for High School Scholars Member
Volunteer at Women and Infants Hospital/ local soup kitchen
Hostess/Waitress at a local retirement home (14+ hours weekly)

I know NYU is expensive but my parents are allowing me to apply, I don’t even know if I will get accepted but it is worth a shot. Also, suggestions are appreciated. I would prefer to a attend a school in the northeast. Although this wouldn’t prevent me from attending, I would prefer a beautiful campus.

Also, I was also a member of the NSHSS and I will tell you that it is a scam – it has no merit.

I remember getting a letter inviting me to join NSHSS at their “special discounted membership fee.” A society open to any student in the country with a GPA above some cutoff I can’t recall. Except I attend school outside the US. And my school doesn’t even calculate GPA. Oops.

Where does your SAT score fall within NYU’s 25/75?

You say you prefer a beautiful campus, but you do know don’t you that NYU really doesn’t have a campus (unless you count the tiny tiny Washington Square Park?) And yes, NYU is terrible for financial aid.
