Chance me for NYU

I am a gap year student studying for standardized testing to improve my chances.
Attended F rated school Freshman - Junior years.

GPA:
2.4 Freshman- Junior (F Rated School + Irresponsible, not a good combo, evidently)
3.0 Senior (A Rated School + Not as irresponsible)

SAT:
As of October 6th, I have taken the SAT twice and received a superscore of a mere 1590, however, I have taken numerous practice tests and scored between ranges of 2100-2240 (Sounds hard to believe but I studied for about 12 hours a day). I’ve got 2 months left to study for the SAT Reasoning and plan on taking that to 2280+ at the least. I’ve also studied for SAT Chemistry, Biology, Math 2 and will be taking them all on November aiming for at least 720+, studying has been going quite well. These tests are much easier than I had anticipated. Will perhaps take physics (depending on satisfaction).

So to clear it up

Current Recorded Stats (Which is what counts)
2.6 GPA overall
1590 SAT
590 Math 2, 520 Chemistry
(Only CC and Penn State Branch Campuses would take me with that score.)

Actual Current Stats
2.6 GPA overall
Most Recent SAT Reasoning Practice: 2210
BARRONS Chemistry: 620, Math level 2: 670, Biology & Physics scores unavailable. (Should translate to 720+)

Rigor of School Record
Previous school shut me out of AP whenever I asked (every year, even when I was doing well) but I won’t blame these matters all on my past high school.
Honors Geometry

Senior Course Load:

AP Literature
AP Government & Politics
College Course Pre-Calc
College Course Technology

(3.0 UW)

Extracurriculars:
VP of Art Club
Co-Captain of JV Track and Field

Red Cross Club |
Key Club | Could not take leadership as transfer student
Pre-Med Club |
Volunteered at food pantry at local church (150+)
Employed at a local market for 4 years (used part of the money to help parents pay for rent)
Attended a Catholic School (for religious studies after school twice a week)
Taking private piano lessons with a Russian concert pianist for 4 years (will not say name as to maintain anonymity)
Took private violin lessons
Shadowed cardiovascular surgeons and internists over the entire summer over at Texas
Babysit and gave piano lessons to the person I was taking care of.
(I have way too many extracurriculars, it won’t fit on my common app and It’s tooo much. I’m afraid that the admissions officers will think that I am lying, which ones should I remove? The amount of EC’s don’t matter, correct?)

I’m a URM Hispanic student, with an EFC of zero. I reside in NYC and am extremely interested in applying to:

Throughout my previous threads I’ve been quite inconsistent and delivering false information due to uncertainty and shame, but I can trust you that everything listed above is 100% complete and honest truth.

Three important things to mention.

  1. At the previous school I was top 15th percentile with the 2.4 GPA.
  2. I am considering on creating a recording of myself performing my personal interpretation of Chopin's Ballade No. 1, perhaps if I also mention that I'm interested in their music programs it might help me along with the video.
  3. I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 5 and lived with it unmediated all until (perhaps) next week. I have a LONG history of medical complications (Surgery, Deformities, Conditions, Allergies etc.) which certainly interfered with my education and attendance.

(Bump) To be admitted into NYU with Liberal Arts & Performance Arts, you must apply through Performance Arts and audition. You then complete your freshman year and commit to double majoring in the liberal arts field which for my case would be Biochemistry at the College of Arts and Sciences. These auditions must be done by January 1st, however, the repertoire is too extensive for my skill level. I can not go through with this and can not send in my video application. Which in turn defeats the attempt to applying to NYU since it is now TOO much of a reach. Please consider me for the other universities listed above.

Going to keep bumping until at least one response  It’s alright if you’re uncertain, an honest opinion or thought would help

Scratch the 2nd message listed above me, I will be applying through their music school! Therefore, although I need to have good records, the decision will be split evenly within both the Music Department and the Undergrad Admissions Department, of course you can not give me an accurate chance as you can not judge an audition I have not taken place in :). Chance me for NYU as if I were applying to the College of Arts and Sciences and not music. Please answer! c:

Last attempt and I’m gone forever :o

Honestly, just go for it and try to convey your true self in your writing.

@dc3225 Thank you for your contribution! At this point, since my case is so rare, the outcome can not be expected. The worst possible outcome is that I will be shut out due to the minimum requirement of a higher GPA.

Edit: **Which in this case is most likely going to happen, I will keep my fingers crossed for HEOP to add me as an exception.

If you could actually pull your SAT up to the 2200, I’d say mate. If not, if I’m being perfectly honest, I’d say there’s very little chance. I’m a senior applying this year with a 2130 SAT, 32 ACT, 4.0 UNW, 4.875 W, and I’m extremely nervous/not at all confident. I’d definitely find a good safety that you’re ok with.

Why do you want to go to NYU?

@mstee I went on a tour and fell in love with it years ago. I went on the tour again, the campus itself has so much color, it’s extremely vibrant. As a NYC student looking to major in STEM they offer so many opportunities with outstanding academics and professors in CAS, it’s singlehandedly my best shot to being happy for all four years… as of now. Attending NYU would essentially be absorbing the real NYC lifestyle that even I, as someone who lives there, have not fully explored. There are other campuses within my merit range but none of them are quite like NYU.

Okay, in all honesty, I think you would have your best shot if you went elsewhere and got excellent grades and then transferred. But no harm in trying.
