Chance me for Ohio State, Case Western Reserve, Georgia Tech, UMichigan, and Purdue

GPA: 3.96 (UW), 4.65 (W)
ACT: 29 (composite), 32 (superscore)

I’ve taken pretty much every AP class, so I feel I’m with the top in that regard.

I’ve also taken “Computer Networking” at the University of Cincinnati.

Extra-curriculars:

  • Software Development Intern at a Fortune 500 (was a summer intern and invited back for my senior year)
  • IT Director of a non-profit with a budget of $1 million
  • Public Forum Debater (Speech & Debate), started junior year and won one tournament and got 2nd - 5th place in multiple
  • President of an ACM student chapter with 100+ members, 7 special interest group leaders, and 3 other high ranking officers
  • Worked at Kumon and Wendy’s
  • Black Belt after 5 years of training
  • Lead Developer for a Robotic’s Team

Don’t know about all the schools but think that you would get in at Ohio State. Just make sure you have all application requirements in by November 1 Early action deadline if you want to be considered for merit scholarships. This year I think all scholarship money was exhausted with early action applicants, with no money left over for regular admissions. My child just started there as a freshman this year and is loving it.

For UMich, your GPA and course rigor should be okay. Just your ACT score is weak, particularly they do not super score. Indeed, most schools would not superscore ACT. So you my want to retake it to achieve a better score near or above your superscore right now. UMich would be a reach for you for both LSA and CoE from OOS. The mid 50 UMich is 30-34, and for CoE, it is even higher. It was 31-34 in the last couple years but the admission median was 33.

UMich- Reach due to low ACT score
Case Western Reserve- Match
Georgia Tech- High Match/Low Reach (low ACT score)
Ohio State- Safety
Purdue- Safety

You should retake the ACT, and aim for a 32+ if you want to improve your chances at some of these schools.

Is it worth not applying early action to UMich and GT?

29 ACT will make it rough OOS for Michigan or GT.

What about Going for the Honors College and scholarship at University of Cincinnati?

Those EC’s are nice af.
UMich - High match
Case - Match
Georgia Tech - High Match
OSU,Purdue - Safety
If you retake and get a 33+, these will probably all be matches. I assume you’re going to engineering; with a 33, you’ll be able to expand your options and be qualified for a lot more places. Good luck.

Could you chance me back? Thanks.

You may apply EA at UMich, they would not reject you immediately but defer you to RD. Then you can submit new score and updated transcript. Only that you cannot submit another essay. If I were you, I will spend more time on the essay and retake ACT before applying RD.
