Hoping to get into Stanford.

Please PM me for more details... I really think it would be tough to chance me without reading my essays.

Anyways, thanks in advance. I'll reciprocate whatever time you put into reading this, if you have a thread like this.

you’re set

Here are some more details I didn’t have in the first post:

Hardly anyone from my school applies to Stanford… usually 0 or 1 student every year… HYP are far more popular choices for kids in NJ. As a result, my school really has no connection to Stanford (last person to go was maybe 10 years ago).

I did not see my recommendations, but I’m sure they all are very helpful and reinforce what my application looks like already.

My uncle got two master’s degrees at Stanford (don’t think this would make any difference, but I figured I might as well put it down).

unfortunately i doubt your uncle will be any hook for you. but your stats are terribly impressive and i really don’t think you’d even need it. your SAT is about as good as it gets and your gpa is right on. just keep it up with the EC’s to round off your application. you’re right on target with the essays though, those are always a factor that people here tend to dismiss. please chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1098326-notre-dame-chances-please.html</a></p>

I’m not an expert by any means, but it looks to me like you have as good a chance as is possible at getting into Stanford. I hope you have good chances bc your profile is similar to mine and that’s where I’m applying next year. Are you getting recruited/planning to play any sports?
I’d be happy to read some of your essays, also.

lax - replied to your thread.
eliza - I’m not getting recruited to play sports. Sent you a PM about the essays. Also, if you’re curious of the results, check the CC Stanford Class of 2015 Decision thread once decisions are released.

Some more info:

Got a likely letter from UVA in the mail today. Haven’t heard anything from my other schools though.

I think you are a very qualified candidate, but Stanford is like HYP in that sometimes it can be extremely unpredictable.
Good luck and I hope you get in!

With Stanford its somewhat hit or miss but you seem to have as good of a chance as anyone can get. You’re pretty safe if your essays and recommendations are strong.

Chance me back please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1099372-chance-me-usc-nyu-university-miami-uc-santa-barbara-i-will-chance-back.html#post12117862</a></p>

what’s an updawg?

Your course load is very rigorous, appealing to colleges.
But, Stanford, like Harvard, is very competitve, no matter how strong your application is.

But, excellent chances though.
