I have a 3.3 GPA, no honors classes ( I go to a college prep school) but i am taking two honors (pre-cal and biology) classes this year and doing fairly well in them. My SAT score was a 1670 (not good, but not absolutely horrible) with 510 math, 590 verbal, and 570 writing. And a 23 on my ACT.
I have been on varsity tennis all four years
Volunteered at a hospital (about 80 service hours)
Volunteered teaching tennis (30 service hours)
Volunteer with a mini peace corps organization for high school students (spent 9 month training, then 6 weeks living with one other american in honduras in a small community, and started a library)
Work experience: worked at a candy store from june 2007-january 2008, and I started working at a sports store in september working about fifteen hours a week)
I am involved in school activities like leading retreats, etc.

I think i did really well on my essay (I was really excited about it when i wrote it, lol)
But i know its kinda hard to get into for people out of state, i am from oregon.

I'm sorry, but the minimum requirement for OOS freshmen is a 3.4. Maybe you could transfer.

OOS needs a 3.4 to even be considered. Just keep that in mind.

oh okay. no big deal :) i was just curious. thanks for the answers!

Be sure you're calculating your UC GPA - the "A-G" requirements. Since you're so close to the cut-off, you may want to check this. Take another look, we need your OSS tuition fees - lol

I already applied...lol so don't worry! If I get in, i will probably go there, so you will get my fees! Does anyone know if its hard for out of state students to fit in? Isn't it only like 4% out of state students?

^No one really cares where you are from. In fact, Cali students are always interested to find international/out of state students because they often having interesting stories to tell.

Are you 100% sure that your UC gpa is 3.3?

Yeah OOS students really have no trouble. Santa Cruz is an extremely open and welcoming client; the OOS friends I have had no trouble fitting in. I hope you get in!

oh okay. I'm really excited to hear back, I now there is a chance i won't get in, and if i don't its no big deal, i've already gotten in to the place i sort of planned on going from the start, but i'd like to have the option of going to ucsc!

umm I definitely meant school, not client. I must have been talking and typing at the same time hahaha

you fail at life. You have absolutely no chance of getting into this cool school. We dont want your oregon bi tc h as s coming into socal... unless your a cute girl..then disregard this. but if your not a cute girl..then your grades are **** and i you are prime community college student..

Woah. That's pretty rude. I understand the need for honesty, but there is NO need for being a jerk.

Haha...wow saisalfree thanks for the honesty? For the future...just the second sentence in your post would have been sufficient. But thanks for your honesty!
