I would appreciate any help! Thanks!

Your SAT’s and EC’s should definitely make you competitive. Being an Eagle Scout looks impressive too. The GPA is a bit of a concern, but you took a ton of AP courses, so I’d say you have a decent shot at getting in. Just make sure your essays are top notch.

bump? Anyone else?

bump? some help please??!!

really great chance!

I know its been a while, but could some more people take a look at this? Thanks!

I think your GPA may be a bit low, but otherwise, you seem pretty strong. The toughest part about getting into UNC CH as an OOS student is that by law, they MUST accept 82% of students from NC. The OOS acceptance rate at UNC is around 15%. My son in awaiting his EA decision in a few weeks. Good luck to you.

As was just written, UNC is soooo competitive, esp for OOS, that it is hard to really venture a guess. I would say you have a chance but that you should definitely be looking at other options as well. You demonstrated upward growth academically and you took on progressively stronger leadership positions. You are an Eagle Scout. All major pluses. You are a strong candidate but UNC has gotten so competitive that being great isn’t enough-you almost have to have invented a machine to feed the world, have discovered a cure for cancer, or brought about world peace. Short of any earth shattering credentials such as those, it will just be a matter of where you fit with what they need to round out their class. Good luck!

Your GPA is very low for an OOS.

I think UNC Chapel Hill would probably be a high match to a reach. I think your GPa is a bit of a letdown but if you are in the top 10 percent, I’m guessing it shouldn’t be an issue. I think Chapel Hill considers your GPa/grades to be more important than your SAT score (which will definitely contribute majorly to your application (I’m at 2250 and I would love to have an SAT score of above 2300), but I’m guessing your grades are far more important than your SAT score because in the past, the only people who have gotten into UNC Chapel Hill from my school are people who have these insanely high IB scores (people who are basically predicted over 43)). I still think (because your ECs are pretty good) that you have a good chance of getting in.

Thanks for that you guys! Any one else want to offer any input?

Hey, I’m a current UNC student, and I can probably provide some insight. Being OOS, you have a lower chance. UNC accepts 18% OOS students, so the chances are small as it is. Your GPA is also lower than the average student coming in. However, your ECs and test scores are stellar. If your recs and essays are good, you have a shot, but make sure you apply to back up schools. Best of luck!
