just FYI, my safeties are northwestern, UT Austin, etc. other schools i’m really interested in are Johns Hopkins, Duke, and Columbia. Any ideas on those?

Your academics are practically flawless (a 3 in AP French won’t hurt you much since it’s a tough test for non-native speakers, and all the rest of your AP scores are good). The rest of your ECs are solid but not outstanding, unless your scientific research ends up being honored in Siemens/Intel/the like. The best thing you can do now is to write outstanding essays. Show off some of the less academic sides of your personality - don’t be afraid to write about a quirky subject if it really fascinates you. Best wishes!

thanks for the responses guys; i really appreciate it. rather than writing about a quirky subject in my essays, should i maybe write about the quirky side of myself?

I think that you have an absolutely great chance at penn SEAS, seeing as how you have a phenomenal SAT score/gpa/class rank. Make sure you accentuate your differences from the applicant poolin your essay then! Good luck to you.

Penn ED: Good chances (ED acceptance rate is a lot higher)
Duke RD: Reach
Columbia RD: Reach
JHU RD: I am not sure.
Northwestern RD: Good chances but not safety (not a safety for anybody)
UT: In

Work on your essays and highlight your focused ECs.
Good luck to you!

You got a fantastic chance at Penn. Even better with ED. Duke’s a reach for anyone but good chances, Columbia’s a reach, JHU you should be in, I’ve had many friends get in (and some even get merit money) with stats similar to yours.
