I had everything in by October 24th. So way before The priority deadline. I want to go for international politics so I guess that means I’m looking to be accepted to the college of liberal arts. Does anyone have any idea why I haven’t heard yet but like everyone at my school has received a decision? I though PSU main was rolling admissions?

I pretty much figured out how Penn State rolling admissions works, assuming you get all your stuff in before November:

Top Candidates: Hear back mid-late November with acceptances
Really good Candidates: Late November/Early December
Trash Candidates: Rejection in Mid November to December
Middle of the Road: All after.

So if you’re in the middle of the pack, expect it to take quite a while. I have yet to hear anyone who got a rejection in November though.

I got in already with a pathetic 3.45 GPA with 1 AP and a couple of Honors classes, Having a high SAT REALLY will overthrow a garbage grade point average, even at colleges like Penn State who value gpa the most.

although it’s rolling admissions, they tend to look at/accept higher sat/gpa scores faster than average students. I may be wrong, but in my high school, there were so many students who applied EA but me and couple of my friends were accepted very early, but many others were accepted/denied much later. Again, I may be wrong, but it’s what happened in my school.

Thanks so much for the information, you guys! I’m not as concerned anymore and hopefully I’m one of those “middle of the road” candidates! I have another question: I put down Abington as an alternate starting campus even though I don’t want to go there, but do you think because of my low gpa and sat scores, that they will accept me to Abington and not university park? And if so, is it possible to re-apply for university park?

They might, and if you aren’t happy with that, try to change your major to DUS or do summer session. Usually, if you say you’ll start with summer session, they’ll let you into Upark, but keep in mind, this doesn’t always work 100%. Just saw few from CC and friends who did that.
