Extra Curriculars:

-DEBATE* 2 Years, Policy Debate. ( This is one of my "hooks" ) This is one of the thing on where I plan to show the school that I'm a qualified leader; that after Prep school is done with me I will be one of their notable alumni and furthermore, a prominent figure in society. I love debating, it fun and it really connects to everything I plan to become in the future; It's also very academically rigorous. ( In my first debate ever I earned 7th place out of 13 teams in a small NYC debate tournament where NYC's best competed) Eventhough I haven't earned any Achivement of Exellence in this area I can say with the utmost confidence that I will win a BIG award in the next 5 months State or National.
school Awarded me a small yet very kind Scholarship for a debate Programm this summer *

-Racquetball/Squash: 1 Year ( Have loads of passion, consider myself to be a B- by NYC Squash Standards)

Community Service
Volunteered to help disabled kids and kinder gardeners at local school.
I also worked closely with my school and raised money for American Cancer Society , Worldwide Wildlife Fund and Haiti in students rebuild programm.

-BUSSINESS*: 10 years, I plan this on being another sort of hook.I have a very fond relationship with bussiness.

Since I can remeber I've been doing bussiness. All from buying whole-sale gummy worms and selling them all around my neighborhood with help from my "employees" (They got commision on whatever the ammount of candies they sold) when I was 5. To Buying stock at 16 dollars and selling them at 38 dollars.

Almost every aspect of me is bussiness related. I often play strategy games and money related board games. I played bank as a kid and converted 100$ into 2500$ when I was 12.
I've sold thousands of chocolate bars and made hundreds of dollars.
I've Bought stocks with help of Mad Money, Teen Biz, etc.
I've bought car for as little as 1500$, invested, and sold for 2700$ ( with help from my parent of cource, but I orchestrated every aspect of it)
I've helped my parent run a franchise
I've worked at a small Hotel
and I've set record sales at school.

All of this is small, I hope to show the schools that I want to take it to another level and that I want and MBA and I want to start my own company; Hopefully related to renewable energy products or inventions.

This year I'll join some clubs that I hope will enhance my chances.
- Debate Team ( Very wel Known)
-Enviromental Awareness club
- Entrepreneurs club.
-Science Olympiad
-Student Government

I think I can Nail the interview because I'm well prepared, eloquent and good on my feet. ( All skills earned in debate)

And with regard to the SSAT, I'm going to a tutouring company whose tutors are all Ivy; so I think Ill do well.

Essays I still have to work on.... but final product will be divine ( I hope)

*Concerns *

I know for a Fact that since I'm not a US citizen, FFA is going to be VERY hard to get.
I also know that I'm not the strongest candidate due to my age 15
And finally, I'm afraid that if I apply for 10th Grade, the chances will be so small that it will be unrealistic. But also, I'm afraid that if apply for 9th grade I might seem Very odd. A 16 year old freshmen !!!!!

One more thing, does anyone know much about The Gunnery ?

My life trully depends on the outcome of event to come. I am trying my hardest 100%.
Feel free to point out anything you might find weird or insuffient.

I apologize for any Grammar or Spelling errors, I'm in a bit of a rush.

That's Basically it.... >.<

Thank you for you interest, and have a wonderfull day! :D

While you still can, please go back and edit your post. I highly suggest that you delete specific information like your school name(s). It is less specific if you just say that you are hispanic instead of Colombian (I’m part Colombian, by the way). I also suggest that you take specific names of clubs out and instead but a general name, just in case. PLEASE do this or your chances could drop (no joke).

Thank you so much !!! >.<

Anyway why could my chances drop ? Just what I needed -___-

Your welcome!

I think you are a great candidate and are on the right track with what you are doing. Please do not worry as much as you are, because you shouldn’t. You have a passion for something and that is really important to the admission officers, however, it’s important that you also bring something to the table for the school. They are generally looking for spots to fill in sports teams and orchestras. I don’t know if you think your sports skills are good enough to get in (no matter what, I highly suggest that you are recruited for sports).

What concerns me the most (and I can see it concerns you, too) is that you will need full financial aid, which is VERY hard for international students. I am pretty sure that you are counted as am international student. Being hispanic isn’t a bad thing, so don’t worry about that.

I wouldn’t feel odd at all by being a 16 year old 9th grade student. Alot of kids apply as repeats (usually for sports reasons, if I’m correct). Tenth grade admission is harder, so I would apply for 9th grade if you can.

The schools on you list are good and I’m surprised that you didn’t pick HADES schools like Andover.

Good luck!

EDIT:
Your chances could drop, because it is possible that admissions officers look at these boards. If you give revealing information, they can determine who you are. If one night (or day) you start talking about which school you like the most or decide to get into it with someone and look really unprof. they will know who it was. Besides, you don’t want some stranger knowing where you go to school and possibley what your name is and where you live.

Thank you , you responce really means alot. It was bery Insightfull, I’ll work hard to get the coaches attencion and I’ll aply for 9th grade :D

I was going to pick Andover but my friend got rejected and he was a pretty good candidate. Plus, Andover has really low Admin. rates. I think taft is as good as HADES. Its a school of the same caliber with higher acceptance rates

Oh I totally understand what you mean, it’s a good thing that you looked at these schools instead of just Andover. I don’t think you should underestimate Taft, though. They still have a very low acceptance rate and are hard to get into. If you would like to learn more about Taft, you should talk to ExieMITAlum. She went to Exeter and know her daughter attends Taft.

You can’t really predict which school you will DEFINITELY get into, everything must go right, if something is wrong something else must be amazing. However, saying that, you have a great chance.
Just a suggestion: do not put “I often play strategy games and money related board games. I played bank as a kid and converted 100$ into 2500$ when I was 12.
I’ve sold thousands of chocolate bars and made hundreds of dollars.
I’ve Bought stocks with help of Mad Money, Teen Biz, etc.”
