@Ityogs: Thanks so much for your input! I really appreciate the advice and will try to follow it.

@rickie92: Thanks for your opinion! I really hope that I can write a good essay! Do you guys think my freshman grades will affect my acceptance? I heard Princeton doesn’t look at them.

your academics and ecs are excellent!!! i dont see why you wouldnt get in, unless you screw your essay. with your excellent ecs and great scores, you definitely have a good chance to get in. good luck!
please chance me!

I chanced you! Good luck and thanks for your opinion!

Wow what I would do for stats like those. Personally I would never make a school of that prestige my dream school but only because of how selective the admissions are. With that being said, however, you certainly have a fantastic shot and I see no reason why Princeton would deny you. Best of luck

You should do just fine, definitely a competitive applicant. With those ECs, I don’t see you getting rejected even with the competitiveness of Princeton admissions. Being female doesn’t hurt you either.

Try posting in the Princeton thread

Good job!! Your SAT scores and GPA is excellent. And your ECs. You most definitely have a shot at Princeton BECAUSE of your ECs. Your “spikes” will definitely help. Apply to other IVIES also! (I suggest)

You sound like a really awesome student! You are certainly qualified for Princeton - so definitely apply. But like some others have posted (and I don’t mean to be a debbie downer!) Princeton, as are many competitive colleges these days, a lottery for admissions. Make sure you apply to schools you know you will be accepted to and receive scholarship for AND are interested in. It will make choices/options a bit easier come spring.

Thanks so much for the advice, everyone!

Your academics are great. Even if Princeton did count freshman grades, I’m sure your GPA would be fine because you go to a competitive school, but I know for a fact that they don’t consider freshman grades since they consider it a transition period. And your extracurriculars are great as well because you have a very clear passion in running and medicine (the Kenyan program sounds unique and interesting, in particular.) I think you’d have a decent chance even if you weren’t athletically recruited, but if you can get recruited, your chances are quite high. Good luck!

@xquiksilverx Thanks! Yeah, a senior last year who was on cross country and track with me did the Kenyan program. We have similar times and she got recruited to Yale! Fingers crossed. Thanks again for your input! :)

You seem to have a good chance. All I’d do are get some more EC’s centered around your planned major. P.S. I’m going into college as a pre-med, but I don’t think I’ll apply to Princeton, since they don’t have a medical school. I don’t know if this affects their pre-med, but I’m guessing it does. If I’m wrong, correct me.

great job! you have excellent ecs and grades, i think if you keep doing what you’re doing you should be fine

Can anyone definitively say if pton looks at freshman grades?!
Should be yes or no
Definitely go the sports route. That is a HUGE leg up

Wow you have a good GPA and good SAT scores. Your ECs also look very good. Also because you go to a prestigious private school that will help you even more. Even tho HYP is a low reach for everyone I would have to say that I would not be surprised if you got in. Best of luck!!!

Chance me??

As someone else thinking about running in the ivy league what is your 5k time?

Honestly, there’s nothing else you can do to help yourself (other than being recruited, but that’s obvious) so just sit back and watch the roll of the dice

@my88keys Yeah, I know they don’t have a medical school, but from what I’ve read, their pre-med program is fantastic with great professors, and they have top-notch med school acceptance rates. So, even though there’s no medical school, the pre-med is still great. (I want to go to NYU medical school anyways.) As for what you said about the EC’s, I agree, I’m working on getting an internship with a doctor! Thanks for the advice and good luck as a pre-med student!
@raca1111 Thanks! I sure hope so!
@Murphy600 No one knows for sure, but apparently they do not. I’m going to contact the admissions office to try to find out (anonymously of course), but apparently a book called “A Is For Admission” says they don’t. And, yeah, I’m hoping to play the sports angle. Thanks for the advice!
@coola426 Thanks! I really hope I get in; my school sort of has special ties to the Ivies, Duke, JHU, etc. because they send so many girls to them, so I think that should help me. I’ll chance you right when I get on a computer tonight, promise! (Right now I’m on my phone.) Thanks for your input!
@yaycollege2 My 5K personal best is a 20:05. The D1 cutoff is a 20:15, I looked it up. A girl on my XC team last year got recruited to Yale with a 20:15 or 20:10. As long as your grades are good, a time like that can do it. Good luck!
@TheKongo It’s so hard to wait, haha. I know what you mean, though, I think I’ve done everything I can.
Thanks for the advice, everyone! Much appreciated. Best of luck to all.

Your test scores, your grades after freshman year, strong extracurricular activities, and your school’s high national ranking should get you into Princeton. Like some other people said, they look for different kids every year, but you definitely fit their standards. Early action will also be helpful!

Like others mentioned, just make sure you know what other schools you want to apply to. Princeton isn’t the only amazing school!

And being a cross country runner myself, I think your times are very good, don’t get me wrong. Yet, I do know Princeton has one of the top “cross country/distance” running programs in the nation. They are known as one of the best; they can compete again Oregon, Stanford, Washington, and other big schools.

So, just to make sure, I would contact the coach now and get your name out there. I think it will be a lot easier for you to run there if he knows you now. Hope I helped!
