SAT II: 800 Spanish, 780 Literature
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.6/3.7 (with first semester senior year) - awful, I know. I think I have a total of 4 or 5 B's on my transcript :(
Weighted GPA: 4.0
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): N/A
AP (place score in parenthesis): AP English Language (5), AP US History (5), AP World (4)
Junior Year Course load: AP English Lang and Comp,, AP US History, two other honors classes

Extracurriculars (In school): Red Cross Society (President), Book club (Head officer), Literary magazine (Editor), Blood drive (captain), Softball (JV), Tour Guide
Extracurriculars (Out of school): Concert pianist and wrote a full-length novel that is being sent out for publication. Very probable literary agent or book deal. This is to be taken very seriously, as I am going to major in English. We have many connections to Random House and Scholastic, who are showing serious interest.
Job/Work Experience: assistant teacher/counselor/assistant marketer at summer camp, Barnes and Noble job.
Volunteer/Community service: Museum volunteer, ACS (not much tbh)
Summer Activities: Internship at the MET, internship with college professor for research.

Assuming my essays are really good (writing is my "thing") and my recommendations are good too, what do you think? I'm also including a personal statement that details serious hardship to explain my GPA along with a background story for the piano. I'm including a music supplement that I taught myself entirely. Used to play competitively, but financial strain forced me to quit.

Other
State (if domestic applicant): New Hampshire
School Type: Private
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Gender: Female
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM

Your URM really helps in your profile which otherwise would have been average for an Ivy applicant. That said, your profile is great and solid, so any school lesser than Princeton should be match. Princeton would be a high match or low reach, again because it is Ivy.

Write your essay about balancing a job and school (assuming you had both at the same time) to really maximize your chance Good luck!

pretty sure the others didnt realize ur race. if u were asian i would agree with the others. but since ur hispanic id say its practically guarenteed as long as u dont screw up ur essays which i know u wont since u seem to be a great writer

Unweighted gpa. Average sat score for Princeton closer to 2400 and Hispanic is not a huge hook when your going against thousands of other super qualified Hispanics. Asians etc. have safety schools that are realistic. Check Princeton common data. Unweighted gpa almost 4 for entering class.

I mean you have a shot, but its a reach like harvard yale and princeton are. But apply because u have a chance. Chance me back imma couple threads below urs

Well your GPA is low but not a dealbreaker considering your stellar SAT score and ECs. Its still a reach, but with great essays and the fact that you’re a URM, id say you have a good shot.

I think you have a 50/50 chance! Your GPA is a bit lower than normal but you have lots of APs, EC’s, and high test scores! My brother got into Princeton with an SAT score of a 2180 and less EC’s than you! Plus you seem to be a very good writer. Good luck :)

I agree, your course rigor, ECs and test scores are all fine but your GPA is going to hurt you pretty badly (4 or 5 Bs is a lot for Princeton, Columbia etc.) That being said, you are hispanic, so if in your essay you can successfully explain the challenges you faced, you have a shot. Also, if you can get your novel published, that can be a big hook since that’s pretty unique. Overall, you have a decent shot but your GPA might be your downfall. Good luck!
