Chance me for Princeton

Hi, I hope you don't mind that I posted this in the Princeton forum rather than the "Chance me" one, since I know that you guys probably have a better feel from what a Princeton student has to measure up to. Some preliminary info: I'm a junior who wants to double major (probably) in mathematics and physics. I'm not really looking for validation from you guys, I just want to know if it's worth it to apply here.

SAT I: 2220 (retaking)
---Math: 760 (Missed 1 question :-( )
---CR: 710
---Writing: 750 (Essay: 9/12)

SAT II
---Math I & Math II (don't ask me why I took both...): 800
---Physics: Will take this this June
---Might decide to wing another test while there, but the verdict is out on this one

ACT: 35 (Composite)
---Math: 35
---Science: 36
---Reading: 32
---English: 35

GPA: 4.0 UW; Have taken every AP available at my school other than AP Art (took AP Euro last year for a 5)

Class Rank: (1-2)/130

Extra-curriculars:
---Clubs: Honor Society, Beta Club (President), Latin Club (President), Key Club, Knowledge Bowl Team, Chess Club, Mu Alpha Theta, SLI (please hold all accusations of nerd-ness... heh)
---Jobs/Volunteering: 75 hours at a Thrift shop, 8 hours/week tutoring kids in math since June 2009 (I know this isn't a lot of EC, but whatever.)
---This summer, I will be assisting with some physics research at my university.

Essays: Should be at least decent (I have several sincere topics that I'm thinking about...)

Recommendations: Should be great... Will use a math teacher and my English/Philosophy teacher who writes very well (I'm pretty sure both like me); and I'm hoping I can get a recommendation from the person I'm assisting with research (Ph.D. from Rice), if I help enough.

Notable Math Stuff that might help:
- I have 2 [probably] original proofs for the Pythagorean theorem (verified and deemed [probably] original by a math prof I contacted.
- I have won the state-wide math competition for the past 2 years, and probably this year, too (You get to know your score before you discover whether you won, and I should place at least 1st or 2nd given past score trends).
- I've won my school's math award for the past 3 years.
- Note: Don't think that I deem myself super-special because of these, I just thought that accomplishments related to my probable major would be relevant.

I could add some other miscellaneous rewards and competitions, but it's not directly relevant to the major I want to take up, so if it really matters for gauging, just ask.

If you could chance me based on this (I hope to improve me SAT score, too), I'd be very thankful. I'm just kind of curious whether I should take a shot for Princeton, or just stick to Cornell ED (that is, of course, after visiting Princeton.)

Well Princeton doesn’t allow you to double major so not sure how that will work out. Sounds like you’re qualified, but nothing’s ever 100%.

i was in a similar situation to you. My parents are alum at Penn and Brown, and I was pressured to apply ED to one of them, but Princeton was my first choice. I applied RD and got into all of them. You definitely have a shot at princeton, but so do a lot of people. You’d probably get in Cornell either way.

Wow original proofs. What do you do with them? I’m sure you’d want to get them published under your name before someone else does.

Well, original proofs aren’t that uncommon… I mean President Garfield had one of the Pythagorean theorem. I’m not that afraid of someone else finding it, but I think I’d be able to back of my claim to it by perhaps providing contact info for the prof that verified it (the professor had previous published a journal article with a lot of proofs of the Pythagorean theorem, so that helped too.)

And ya, I know that Ivy’s are never 100%, but I just want to make sure that I have a decent shot at Princeton before I think about giving up a very, very good shot at Cornell.
