Chance Me For Reed College

Hey, I'm a high school junior and I just got my first SAT results back. I'm considering applying to Reed as a history major. Can you guys honestly tell me what you think my chances for admission are based on my current profile.

GPA: 3.7 weighted / 3.4-3.5 unweighted

Rank: Probably top 25-30%

SAT: 1970 as follows 720 Critical Reading; 580 Math; and 670 Writing (I plan on taking the SAT again in Jan and then ACT for the first time in Feb 2015)

SAT II World History Subject Test: 680 (I'll take the US History Subject Test in June 2015)

AP World History: 5/5 (I'll also be taking the US History & English AP Exam)

Hook: African-American Male

EC: Track freshmen year; Basketball manager sophomore year; running cross country this year and next

Job: Working at Chick-fil-a since June 2014

Residence: Texas

Thanks in advance for any advice or input that I receive from you guys.

Try to bring your SAT score up to 2000 and write good essays, and I think your chances would be pretty good. Your GPA is the weak link in your statistical profile.

Thank you for the feedback Ghostt. My goal for my next SAT and ACT will be 2000+ and 30+, respectively.

Since test scores + rank + GPA together account for only 20% of Reed admission criteria, I find it hard to say other than 50/50 when the numbers are in range.

Honestly, I highly doubt that is true.
