Your SAT is amazing, you have great AP scores, your schedule is good, but why is your GPA a little low? Your GPA doesn't match the rest of your stats...

yah i got a C in Geometry freshman year, i wasnt committed at all, plus in science and math im a B student. For some reason i just tottaly killed the math section of SAT, im really good at Language Arts and Social Studies.

If you are in-state then in, out of state 50/50.

Actually, the rumor that it is harder to get accepted to UGA is totally false. You can get this straight off their web site at UGA Undergraduate Admissions - Top Ten UGA Admissions Urban Legends, but in short one myth response is ‘Admissions standards are exactly the same for out-of-state applicants as they are for in-state applicants. UGA does not have a cap on the number of out-of-state students that can be admitted.” You look like a strong applicant, but you are probably better off applying RD, especially since you will have to explain the imbalance of strong potential (SAT/ACT scores) and your lower performance (GPA) as well as going into detail about your EC’s. The strong curriculum is definitely a positive.

plus i am a pakistani male instate

so u think i can make it?

Possibly. But you'd need to show some more leadership in your EC's. If so, I think you'd have a better chance.

umm how can i do that i mean im in some clubs but its almost impossible to become and officer or president for me. I cant create a club cause its pretty hard in my school to create one. If i become a peer leader could that be counted as a leadership EC?

Yeah, since it's too late to really become an officer in anything else (I totally understand, believe me), then that would be a very good option.

Did you not apply for EA? I think you would have had a great shot. I was accepted EA last year with only 4 APs and 600 Math 620 Critical Reading SAT.

what was ur gpa?

You'll definitely get in RD; I believe you have a really good chance getting in for EA. Apply EA!!!

but i have a horrible GPA for EA

apply to EA you'll get in!!!

do my SATs really put me in the EA category??

Now you all are making me nervous for my daughter. Are these credentials worth of EA? She applied EA with the following:

1340/1600
4.0 GPA (weighted, not sure on unweighted--maybe 3.8ish)
AP World History: 5
AP Biology: 4
Taking now: AP Psych, AP Calc, AP Lit, AP Gov/AP Stats

All non AP classes were Gifted level.

Senior Beta, Nat'l Honor, Nat'l Art Honor, Gifted German student of the year, Gifted US History student of the year, letter winner/MVP/captain swim/dive team, significant outside athletics

Does it matter what the claimed major is?

your daughter is in for sure, and has a chance for honors, a 4.0 is pretty much automatic for UGA IMO

adil91, if you applied EA, the worst thing that would happen is that you are deffered. IMO, they wouldn't totally deny you because your SAT score is so good.

goodluck! im waiting anxiously to see if i got in EA too!

and gymmom09,

your daughter is in.
