Thanks for your time,

Your stats are very similar to mine (except your test scores are a bit higher and your GPA is a tiny bit lower), and I got into Rice last year. If you write good essays, you should be able to get in. However, getting merit money is a lot harder, especially as an ORM.

Can I get some more chances? I’m applying to the Wiess School of Natural Sciences by the way, does that make it harder for me?

idk i think it’s easier? Supposedly George R. Brown School of Engineering is a b***** to get into

you’re a sure thing.

you’re in
try to have an overarching theme in your application. This tends to give your app. a focus and will definitely add to your already good chances.

Hope you like warm weather :-)

those are some banging stats. you have a great shot at rice!

You’ve got great chances.
I have a friend, an engineering major, who got into Rice without nearly as impressive stats.
Just get some half decent essays and recs and you’re in!

you’re in, no sweat

aznschoolboi, just remember that Chance threads are just guesses themselves. They do not guarentee admission. Just because all of these people say you are going to get in does not make it necessarily so. I’m not degrading your credentials. I just don’t want you to be incredibly disappointed should you get rejected.

Nevertheless, if you submit a great app and present yourself well, I believe you have a great chance to be admitted.

Idk…my objective stats were pretty “average” (710 M, 700 Math IIC, 710 Physics) for the Brown School, but I still got in.

oh well :frowning: i didnt take any SAT II’s i just did ACT w/ Writing

it’s unsettling how similar our stats are. i’m in socal too, our schools’ status is similar, same number of ppl got into those ivies, I also have 2 friends at rice, I’m in the same activities, just not very good at science. And i’m a girl. applying to social science. but other than that this disturbs me!
i have no idea. i hope you get in. because that means i have a good chance. this is creepy…

Girls may have a better chance of getting in than guys, I think, because there are less girls @ Rice than guys… unless guys are more qualified.

I don’t want to get into THAT though.

great shots but do not let your essays mess you up. Spend a lot of time on them, Rice is a lot more than just GPA + SATs
