Hello all, I am a rising senior. Please let me know if I am a decent applicant for the RU engineering program.
GPA:
-3.2/4 weighted, 3.6/4.5
SAT:
-1900(superscored)
-Math: 620 Reading: 600 Writing: 680
ECs:
-210 community service hours, no sports & no clubs(only one year of freshmen FIRST robotics)
AWARDS:
-During my freshmen year, our robotics team won the best engineering notebook design at a states competition. This may not be significant.
6 Honors 3 APs throughout my high school career
In-state
Please let me know if I do qualify for any scholarships or at least what can I do to achieve that goal? I’ve heard that Rutgers converts GPA to the 4.5 scale; my GPA converted to that scale is 3.6, which is the entry level requirement for RU Engineering. I would like to know if this is true. Thanks.
It’s a match, you will most likely get in
@DurejaVu May I ask why?
Also, does anyone think it’s wise to include my freshmen year award on my resume? I mean, it was a group effort and given that I only did robotics for one year, it may not be of any significance.

You GPA and SAT score are at par with most applicants
So you’re basing this off of the 4.5 scale conversion? Because my 3.2 is trash when compared to other applicants who have a better gpa.
Rutgers only looks at weighted gpa. Thats how my friend got into rutgers NB SAS and Engineering with a 3.55 weighted gpa and 1880 sat.
Yeah but here’s the thing. My school is really weird. I have taken a couple of honors and aps throughout my high school career but when I asked them what my weighted gpa is, they say it’s a 3.2/4. This makes no sense to me. Do you mind explaining why? Is there something I am missing here?
