Chance me for SCEA

Well, I recently applied to Yale through SCEA and am looking to be chanced!
GPA: 99.547(w)
Rank: 5/321 (...terrible grade inflation at my school!) :P
ACT: 29 (Average in my HS is 17)
I'm also Secretary of NHS, a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, Awareness Leader of Youth Advisory Committee, an active member of PETA 2's Street Team, a URM, and economically disadvantaged.
My letters of recommendation are sure to be amazing! :)
So please, chance me!

Your URM might make up for your ACT. It’s tough to say. How many students in the past from your school went to Ivies and Yale specifically?

One student from my school went to Yale in 2002, and 9 others have attended Ivies in the past 17 years… :)

Your ACT is way too low, and your EC’s are weak. Being an URM will help, and you have great grades, but I don’t think your chances are too high.

:( Thanks, I suppose…

It really is too bad, I got the second highest ACT score in my school… :)

If your school inflates grades, that puts you at a major disadvantage. They’ll see how you have a poor act score, but a stellar gps"a, and suspect grade inflation. If it was the opposite, lower than normal gpa for ivy league, (92 average) but perfect scores on your sat, etc, they’ll suspect something wrong with the school grading .

I think you have a chance. Your still within the top 2% of your class.

True… :)

Your ACT context will be important. You’re still in the running – of course you know that practically NO ONE has a GOOD chance. Everyone has very low to low chances in general.

A 29 on the ACT is only one small part of your application. The salutatorian from my school last year got a 36 on his ACT. He won every award possible and was incredibly well rounded (sports, choir, MUN, etc…). However, he was deferred when he applied EA. Our valedictorian, who got into Harvard and Princeton, didn’t get into Yale either.
As for your admission prospects, you won’t know the answer until Yale tell you in December, but as long as your tried, you have as much of a chance as everyone else who applied.

Very nice perspective ahn123! :D

Ugh!!! Who else is nervous out of their wits???!!! D:

Just got my Eli account!!! Yay!!! :D

It’s really creepy how I have similar stats as you lol.

Really?? Oh yeah!!! I read your post!!! I agree, super scary!! :D
