Hi everyone! I know I’m only a junior and nothing is definite quite yet, however, I would love to hear some opinions about my current odds. I’ve done A LOT of college research so these aren’t just schools I’ve heard or good or anything like that I’m genuinely interested. Thanks for any feedback provided in advance!
Demographics: Female, white, New York, public school (that is I think is somewhat recognized)
Intended major(s): Biology or Biochem or Health Sciences (based on the fact the liberal arts schools don’t tend to have a health sciences major, so biology is my second choice)
Academics: ACT: waiting for October score SAT: 1430/1600 & 20/24 on essay (1st try, will retake soon) UW GPA: 3.85
Coursework:
This year (Junior Year):
AP Physics, APUSH, AP Lang, Spanish Honors, Pre Calc Honors + a few science electives I chose to take this year out of interest.
Sophomore year I took the only AP class available (AP World), Freshman year took only honors class available: bio
Next year as a senior I intend to take all APs so by the time I graduate I would have taken 10-11 AP courses
Extracurriculars:
- Varsity Cheerleading - Captain next year (about 9hrs a week / 1 year on JV, 3 years on varsity)
- Dance (3-4 hours a week / all 4 years of hs)
- Volunteer Teacher’s Assistant (about 2hrs/week / all 4 years of hs)
- Will start volunteering at hospital or animal shelter soon & hopefully will also have a job to add too
Schools I’m considering: University of Rochester (currently #1 choice for ED), Bucknell, Colgate, Brandeis, Lafayette, Hobart and Williams Smith (legacy), Bowdoin, Gettysburg College, Drexel
I know my extracurriculars are lacking compared to many others but they’re things I really do enjoy and I find they take up a lot of time on their own and I use any time I’m not participating in them to do school work.
