Hooks (?)
URM from a small rural town in MA. My area has no opportunities for volunteering regularly. I also don't have a chance to intern or work. I live my grandparents permanently so my income is technically 0 since I don't know my parent's.

I hope I have an okay chance at being part of that 17%! If you can't already tell, I plan to be an international relations major with a regional concentration in Asia. I also plan to minor in Korean and probably other foreign languages :)

I'll chance anyone who responds and leaves me a link~! ^o^

I’d say your chances are quite good. You appear very accomplished!

Bump? update: my sfs essay was about east asian animosity ( I loved it) I have one rec from my sophomore and junior history teacher and another from my spanish teacher. I’d give both a solid 9 based on past recs. My other essay was about my global sensitivity in my really undiverse world ( also thinking in korean, spanish, and English at any given moment). I’d give it an 8? My activity one was about my friends club

Any input is appreciated! 1 month left!

Ah I should be getting my letter in the mail tomorrow! I’m worried about my average test scores :frowning: if I don’t get in EA I won’t have anything to update for RD so my chances are pretty much 0  if anyone could give me their input before decisions are released tomorrow, I would appreciate it. I heard 13% of applicants were accepted this year! so nerve wracking! An update on my app: my two recs were from two very close teachers, my spanish teacher, I think, wrote about how I took AP Spanish sophomore year, something unheard of at my school ( even those I am hispanic, I did not learn spanish at home, only through school). My APUSH/APWH probably wrote a lot about my work ethic and activities. My counselor rec should be pretty good  I work in her office And we talk a lot about my goals and my family life (not great) so hopefully she can shed some light onto that in her rec. My interview was amazing  I loved it so much! It was about an hour long since he had to catch an early am flight. He was in the business school but did work with SFS so we had a lot to talk about. He seemed really interested in my goals, mindset, and activities, especially for my love of learning about different cultures! Ah I’m hoping for some good news! Realisticslly, I think I’ll most likely get a deferral but I’m hanging on to that 13% hope!

Hey there, SFS Freshman here. I was in your exact shoes around this time last year (I even wrote my essays on similar topics because I applied while in South Korea as a high school exchange student… we even both have Seoul in our usernames 0_o), and I know how nerve wracking this whole process can be. Looking at your stats, I think you would fit in well here, but just know that even if you are deferred, your chances most certainly are NOT zero… I am serious about this. I got deferred early action last year, then put on the waitlist (talk about torture!! Just make a decision already for crying out loud), but I was finally accepted in May and have had a great first semester so far (I’m actually procrastinating on finishing my last assignment before break to write this hehe ^^;;).

So no matter what happens, don’t give up hope, and don’t let any rejections (or acceptances for that matter) you might face throughout this process define you. I know it sounds crazy, but I promise none of this will matter anymore just one year from now.

You got this

@SEMseoulsearch‌ I actuslly got in EA  thanks!!
