An 87 is equivalent to about a 3.2 GPA. A 3.2 and 1600 SAT will likely not get you into Smeal at University Park campus. If I were you, I’d apply DUS (undecided) and put summer as starting option to give you the best chance. DUS does not put you behind at all. You can take the entry to major requirements for business while you are a DUS student.
No. People who are accepted to Smeal freshman year still have to meet the entry to major requirements in order to STAY in the major junior year. As a DUS student, you can take those exact same entry to major requirements and get accepted into the major the same time as the other students who were “accepted” freshman year. Those students are automatically “in”. They still have requirements to meet. The same ones you will have to meet as a DUS student. Look up the entry to major requirements for the major you are interested in and you will see what everyone has to do. Only DUS or Smeal students can take Smeal ETM classes. And the requirements are rigorous regardless of which way you enter the major.
