I think you have a really great shot at getting in. Your GPA really isn’t that bad especially if it’s unweighted and your SAT scores are at or above their mark. Smith also seems to accept girls who have a unique passion an dedication to the school. The fact you are applying from CA I think could be a big boost. Make sure you really hit home on the essay and, if you are certain, try to apply early decision to increase your chances. Luck!

Thank youuu!

Hi there,
I am Smith class of 2014. I’m super not an expert, but my impression is that Smith would be a low reach for you. Your SATs are very nice. Your ECs are impressive, but not terribly unusual (which can be ok) Your GPA is on the low side, but I have friends at Smith who got in with similar stats especially ED. The problem with having super high SATs and a lowish GPA is that it can give the impression, fairly or not, that you are not challenging yourself. However, I think that the rigor of your course load mitigates that to some extent. I think for you it will be extremely important that you have recommendations/ an essay that reflect commitment to the work that you are doing. Also, especially if you are doing ED, show enthusiasm. I went to a campus open house, Simply Smith and an on campus interview/class visit. This REALLY helped, because by the end admissions knew who I was. In any case, I think you have a really good chance with strong essays and recs.
Best of luck and feel free to PM with questions.
