Chance me for SMU Regular Decision

I’m considering ED round 2 for SMU as well as regular decision. I was wondering if ED is necessary for me and would appreciate any feedback. I live in Texas.

My stats are, SAT: 1290 GPA 3.5

EC: Senior class rep, Debate club founder, Business club VP, Spanish club Secretary and VP, Debate Program member, Latin Club Oratory Captain, National Spanish Honors Society member, Model United Nations Secretariat, School Tour Guide, Member of the Latin Club, community service.
Awards: Summa Cum Laude State Exam, Gold National Spanish Exam, Silver National Latin Exam, 3rd in state for Latin Oratory.

Thank you!

I Forgot to add that I have plenty of work experience for all 4 years of high school every summer.

average sat i think is around 1400 and gpa around 3.6 @franzgzlz

Hi @franzgzlz - did you end up doing ED2 or RD?

Your stats are in the mix, however the ED2 may give you the a nice boost. I just looked at the 2018 CDS, and saw:

https://www.smu.edu/-/media/Site/ir/commondatasets/2018/CDS_2018-19_Part_C_First_Time_Freshman.pdf?la=en

Average GPA: 3.63
SAT: 1280 to 1460 (Mid 50%)
ACT: 29 to 33 (Mid 50%)

I applied RD. Good luck!

deadline is jan 15 so im still thinking. Thank you though.

Are you full pay or will you be applying for aid? I think with SMU it makes a difference

The above was kind of surprising. So few kids get aid.

I’m planning on paying full. However, I’m hoping for a scholarship to reduce the cost from $70k/year. If not granted a scholarship I would pay full

Apply RD as with ED they’ll have no incentive to offer any merit scholarships. Do apply to Baylor and TCU as well to improve odds of merit scholarships. All three colleges are very similar and within 1.5 hr drive to each other. Once you have acceptances and scholarships, you can decide which one is a better value for you.
