I think you’re good for almost all of those schools. The only ones that may be a slight reach are USC and Pomona. However, I think you are competitive for all of those schools. The only thing I would suggest is taking the ACT again and aim for a 30 or 31.

Chance me if you want.

Rec as safeties: UC SB and University of the Redlands. Pomona is too hot right now (see Forbes list). Perhaps you are referring to a different school in Pomona (Poly)?

^ Thats what I was wondering as well. If you are in fact refering to the Pomona that came out of nowhere and ranked #2 nationally on Forbes list, you may be caught applying there at just a bad time.

I think you have a good chance at most of the schools! USC may be a bit of a reach though. Try to raise your ACT score to about 33 or around there C:

Cal Poly Pomona is not the same as Pomona College. They’re two vastly different schools.

Also Pomona College has, since at least the early 1970s, been very selective with its admissions rate dropping in recent years as the pool of applicants surged. The Forbes ranking has nothing to do with its popularity.

^ Thank you for clarifying. I can’t really argue with the second fact, having never heard of Pomona before last week.

If you haven’t heard of Pomona or mistook it with CPP, perhaps you shouldn’t be chancing someone, no?

Yes, because I haven’t heard of one college (or in some cases, mistook it for another college) of the over 2000 colleges and universities in America, that means I shouldn’t chance someone. If I listed Bethune-Cookman or Brockport or College of the Atlantic, would you be able to tell me admission stats for them (or even where they are located?!). Honestly, no one should be chancing because not even the great God whenhen of the CC forums can tell a student whether or not they will be accepted to a college. Cheers, friend.

Someone chancing should be able to look up admissions stats for various universities. It’s not hard to see how vastly less selective CPP is from Pomona College (which btw, doesn’t even offer engineering). Oh and since this is a chance thread, as worthless as I think these are, Cal Poly Pomona is a safety.

SJSU, CSULB, Cal Poly Pomona - safety
Cal Poly SLO - low match/match
UCI, LMU - match
UCSD - match/high match
USC - low reach (raise ACT to at least 31)
