Chance me for some great schools! (Northwestern, USC, Berkeley, ect.)

Here are my stats:

SAT: CR: 690, M: 770, W: 780, (2240)
SATII: Math2: 770, Physics: 720 (should have studied) :(
Class rank: 8/533
Percentile: upper 2%
GPA: UW: 3.94, W: 4.7 (My school is not that competitive though- we rarely send people to top schools)
Class Rigor: As much honors and AP as possible- I'm going to end up with 9-10 AP's
3 AP's Junior year: Calculus AB (5), AP Lang (4), APUSH (4)
6 AP's Senior year: Gov, micro Econ, Physics B, Calc BC, Spanish Language,
Literature and composition.**Going to independent study macro economics

EC's: NHS President (3,4) largest NHS in our state with 180 members
Physics Club President (3,4) competing in a national competition this year
Spanish Honor Society Treasurer (4) First year of club so we haven't done much
Acadeca(2,3,4) 3rd place in region
Basketball starting point guard (1,2) 15-3 JV year
Cross Country (4)

Awards (didn't really have any): Nationa Merit Commended Scholar, AP Scholar
Community Service: 400+ hours from NHS, tutoring, School Blood Drives, St. Mary's Food Bank, ect.

Essays: pretty good/ about my trip to/family in Malaysia
Recomendations: average (My teachers don't know me as well as I would like)

Additional information:
First Generation college student
My brother is currently a Freshman at USC (does this mean I get legacy?)
(Southeast) Asian Male :(
Living in Arizona

Schools that I have/will apply for (I'm going for electric or computer engineering):
USC (top school)
Berkeley
UCLA
UCSD
Harvey Mudd College
Georgia Tech
Northwestern

If you could just tell me which schools you think I could get into that would be great! Also I'm really curious if I get legacy consideration for USC since my brother is currently attending. I know I don't come from a competitive school or get perfect grades like a lot of students on here but hopefully that won't hinder me that much.

Are you serious? Should be a slam dunk for USC. We’re not talking Ivy League here. I did not understand your comment about getting a 720 on Physics but “should have studied” as if 720 is a poor score. By the way there’s no “legacy” if you are trying to claim your freshman sibling as legacy. Legacy refers to parents, where their is a prior generation involved.

@morganhil Thanks for replying! I was just a bit skeptical about my chances at USC since a lot of qualified students at my school last year got rejected there, my brother included (he had to appeal his rejection to get in). Some of them were first in class, good ec’s, and 32-35 ACT scores. Also I didn’t really mean anything by my 720 physics SAT 2 comment, I just know its relatively low in comparison to a lot of students applying to good schools. Also do you think you could tell me if you think I could get into some of the other schools like Berkely, Harvey Mudd, or Northwestern?

I think you’re pretty much in at all those schools but Berkeley and Northwestern, the first really only because you’re not in-state. The latter is just more competitive.

Best of luck!

Buuuuuuuuuuuump

BUMP Bump Bump

Definitely in at USC. No doubt about that at all.

Regarding the other school’s I’d say that it would be tough at Harvey Mudd or Northwestern (it’s a cr**shoot at each of those schools, to be honest). Berkeley you’d definitely stand a good chance. In at all the others.

@indoman081 Thanks a lot for replying!

AndChen, correct me if I’m wrong, but if your SATs are good for Berkeley, why be worried? Are they not good enough for Berkeley? By the way, no :frowning: is needed because the UCs are race neutral! So I hope this makes you feel better. By the way, my attitude is not bad lol, you don’t even know me! Good luck!

@Galaxialto, I know the SAT scores are good enough for Berkeley but they don’t really set me apart either. Also my EC’s are a bit weak :/. Thanks for replying though haha.

USC (top school): Match
Berkeley: Match
UCLA: Match
UCSD: low match/safety
Harvey Mudd College: dunnno
Georgia Tech: dunno
Northwestern: high match

Good luck!
Chance back?

You will not have a problem with any of these schools i think! Good Luck!

Bump. Does it matter if I change that my school “rarely sends people to top schools” to “never sends people to top schools?” I think the best school anyone has ever gotten to from my school was Berkeley two years ago but my school has only been around for like 7 years.

Berkeley, Harvey Mudd and NW could be tougher because they do have some quirky admissions decisions. USC seems more predictable. But think positively…you may get into all.
