I'm thinking about applying to UCF(safety), UF, GIT, Duke, Carnegie Mellon,
Major: Engineering
Race: Asian (should I check this on my college apps?)
Hook: First generation college student?

Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA (Where getting an A in AP is 6.0 and an A in Honors is 5.0): 5.26
Class Rank: 1 or 2 at the beginning of Senior year, will probably not change.
AP classes: 20 by the end of Senior year, never received a score below 4 so far.

SAT: 2070 (670 CR, 740 M, 660 W).
ACT: 34 Composite (34 E, 34 M, 33 R, 35 S, 7 on essay)
I've only taken both the SAT and the ACT once. I am probably only going to send my ACT score, although I would like some feedback on this decision. I will also take the Math II and Biology subject tests soon.

Extracurricular activities:
Nothing extraordinary here.
- NHS President
- Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) member for 4 years, was secretary of the club during Sophomore year. I help tutor students on a weekly basis.
- National Beta Club member for 3 years, secretary during Junior year.
- Part of both the AP Biology Club and the AP Chemistry club, both clubs in which I tutor AP students in.
- Member of Quiz Bowl
- Piano for 8 years, I've played for several nursing homes and annual participant of the National Federation of Music Club festival for 6 years and have received a couple of awards for achieving a "superior" rating for all years.I was also considering sending a recording of a piece along with my app.
- Volunteered at the local science center during the summer
- Over 100 hours of community service
- National AP Scholar

with that act score and those rigorous ap classes, you could probably get in at an ivy league.

Are you not interested in MIT, Stanford, or any of the Ivies? As @rubyjam says, you’ve got good to excellent chances anywhere you apply, so aim high.

Thanks, that’s pretty encouraging!

I always believed that in order to get into an Ivy, you need amazing extracurriculars. When applying, do I just not enter any info about taking an SAT? Or do I enter that I did take both the SAT and the ACT, but don’t send them the official score report for the ACT? I’m really inexperienced with this kind of stuff haha.

don’t send them the official score report for the SAT

@iconicsoul - you do not need amazing extracurriculars to get into an Ivy, It helps, but academic record and potential plays a bigger role. The admissions committees are less interested in what you have done than what you might do in the future. ECs give them some clues and help them find dedicated and involved students.

Some of these schools require SAT subject tests so you are going to need to send those - whether you need to send your SAT score depends on the school. Go on their admission websites and review the requirements.

With your ACT score, I suspect that if you retake the SAT with sufficient preparation, you will do much better.

Great stats!!
Aim higher, you can! Unless you really want to get into the schools you listed!
